In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
Chalk Stacks
Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers, Team Total 28.5 points
QB Aaron Rodgers $7,900-WR Randall Cobb $7,400 Total Stack $15,300 (30.6% of salary)
QB Aaron Rodgers $7,900-WR James Jones $5,300 Total Stack $13,200 (26.4% of salary)
Green Bay is an 8.5 point favorite on the road in San Francisco. This game has the highest game total of the week at 48.5 points. Aaron Rodgers is the highest priced DraftKings quarterback this week. He will be popular after his five touchdown performance on Monday night versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Davante Adams is expected to be out with an ankle injury. Randall Cobb and James Jones will benefit from additional targets in the passing game. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 369 passing yards and 3 touchdowns versus the San Francisco defense Week 2. Last week, Carson Palmer threw for 311 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in a game that was out of reach early. Rodgers/Cobb and Rodgers/Jones stacks will be popular this Sunday.
Cincinatti Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Team Total 24 points
QB Andy Dalton $5,900-WR A.J. Green $7,600 Total Stack $13,500 (27% of salary)
Cincinnati is a 4 point home favorite over a struggling Kansas City defense. Andy Dalton/A.J. Green stacks won many GPP's last weekend and many will go back to the well this week. Dalton is still under-priced based on recent performance at $5,900. Everyone witnessed Kansas City struggle on national television this past Monday night and will expect the trend to continue. Tread with caution as Kansas City's top cornerback, Sean Smith, will be back in the lineup after serving a three game suspension. Don't chase last weeks points with this stack.
Oakland Raiders at Chicago Bears, Team Total 23.5 points
QB Derek Carr $5,300-WR Amari Cooper $6,300 Total Stack $11,600 (23.2% of salary)
The Oakland Raiders are 2.5 point favorites on the road at the Chicago Bears. This is the first time in three years that the Raiders have been listed as a road favorite. Derek Carr is under-priced as the 21st most expensive quarterback on DraftKings this week. Carr is only $300 over minimum price and shares the same price as Robert Griffin III III who hasn't played an offensive snap all season. Carr has looked great over the past two games throwing for 314 passing yards and 2 touchdowns last week in Cleveland. In Week 2, Carr threw for 351 passing yards and 3 touchdowns versus Baltimore. Opponents have found little resistance moving the ball on the Chicago defense. Chicago has allowed a league leading 105 points on the season. A Carr/Cooper stack leaves you with a healthy $5,485 average remaining per player to construct the remainder of your team.
Under the Radar Stacks
Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, Team Total 28.5 points
QB Andrew Luck $7,800-WR T.Y. Hilton $6,700 Total Stack $14,500 (29% of salary)
QB Andrew Luck $7,800-Donte Moncrief $5,000 Total Stack $12,800 (25.6% of salary)
Andrew Luck is the second highest priced quarterback and will carry much lower ownership as compared to Aaron Rodgers who is only $100 more. Jacksonville has struggled versus the pass in recent weeks allowing Tom Brady to pass for 358 yards and 2 touchdowns last week. In Week 2, Ryan Tannehill threw for 359 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Luck is going to drop one of his signature 4 touchdown performances soon and it feels as though this may be the week. Edit: Keep an eye on the injury report as Luck is currently listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. If Luck scratches, Matt Hasselbeck is minimum price at $5,000.
New York Giants at Buffalo Bills, Team Total 20.5 points
QB Eli Manning $7,000-WR Odell Beckham Jr $9,100 Total Stack $16,100 (32.2% of salary)
Many will shy away from an Eli Manning/Odell Beckham stack due to salary and matchup. Beckham is the pivot for those who are on Julio Jones this week. I do not expect many to stack Manning with Beckham this week due to other attractive quarterback options around the $7,000 price point. Cam Newton $7,000, Matt Ryan $6,900, and Carson Paler $6,800 should all carry higher ownership percentages as compared to Manning. While Buffalo is stout versus the run, their passing defense has allowed the second highest amount of yards, 980, this season. Beckham is always a threat for a multiple touchdown game which is key for taking down a GPP.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers, Team Total 20 points
QB Colin Kaepernick $5,500-WR Torrey Smith $4,600 Total Stack $10,100 (20.2% of salary)
QB Colin Kaepernick $5,500-WR Anquan Boldin $4,800 Total Stack $10,300 (20.6% of salary)
San Francisco has fallen behind early the past two weeks. It is not difficult to envision a game script where Green Bay jumps out to an early lead this Sunday. Colin Kaepernick was able to rack up 335 passing yards and two touchdowns playing from behind in Pittsburgh week two. Kaepernick also provides rushing upside with at least 40 rushing yards in each game this season. A San Francisco stack is very cheap and will provide you with the ability to load the rest of your team with some high priced options.
