Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 7

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 19 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect any late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Brutal. Just brutal. Big upsets meant terrible scores this week. But that was good news for Brimacombe as he cruised to his second consecutive weekly victory with just 56 total points. James had 7 correct picks this week, which was one less than Mamula. However, Brimacombe had 14 points on Houston and he hit 3 of his top 5 picks. Mamula missed fewer games, but lost his top two picks with Denver and Atlanta. It was a tough week for everyone.

Everyone missed Atlanta, Kansas City, and Denver last week, accounting for 581 total confidence points down the drain. Green Bay and Baltimore accounted for another 267 points, bringing the total confidence points lost to 848 out of a possible 851 based on how each staffer weighted them.

OVERALL RANKINGS

Brimacombe's back to back wins moved him into first place by a solid margin given this point in the season. Grant slid down to second with just 42 points and Haseley closed the gap on with 48. There's still just 30 points separating the top five spots.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Pittsburgh firing up on the undefeated Chiefs last week have everyone back on the Pittsburgh bandwagon this week.  The Steelers were the only team that the entire staff picked to win this week. That being said, the Titans, Cowboys, and Vikings all had more confidence points wagered on them this week than the Steelers. The Panthers, Rams and Eagles were are also heavy favorites in each of their games.  Kansas City, New England, and Buffalo also have a decent chunk of confidence points wagered on them this week. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Denver's loss to the winless Giants at home have everyone afraid to pick them. They have just two more confidence points than the Chargers, and the game has the lowest total confidence points for the week. Miami is a slight favorite over the visiting Jets this week as well, but Miami's upset of Atlanta and the Jets #whatfumble loss to the Patriots have this game being one of the tougher ones to pick this week as well. A few staffers still support Green Bay despite missing Aaron Rodgers, but the Saints are still the favorite to win on the road. 

ODDS AND ENDS

We're back to 120 points being the maximum this week as there are only two teams on a bye week. Las Vegas has not set any spread at more than six points this week, meaning the potential for upsets is a lot stronger this week. Given the tough week that most people had last week, it may be prudent to be a bit more conservative this week, trying to make up some ground.
