Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 5

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 19 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect any late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Jeff Haseley is on FIRE. With a big 14 point win on Monday Night Football, Haseley came from behind and narrowly edged out Jeff Pasquino to retain the top spot for the second week in a row. Although 89 points isn't a huge score, it was enough to take the top spot, and Haseley only missed five games in a week and survived a rough weekend where upsets really hurt a lot of the players. Going into Monday Night, Pasquino had an outside shot at winning, but he was actually rooting against his pick in that if Kansas City had lost to Washington, Pasquino would have taken home the weekly win.

While the Thursday Night game went as expected, there were some big upsets on Sunday. Atlanta and Dallas started off Sunday with a thud, taking down almost 400 confidence points between them. Jacksonville and New England added another 370 points of lost potential with their losses to the Jets and the Panthers respectively. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Haseley's back to back wins propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. He pushed past Grant into the top spot and extended his lead to five points. As we head into the bye weeks, it will be a bit harder for others to catch him.

HEAVY FAVORITES

New England kicks off Thursday night with almost 200 confidence points right out of the gate. The Eagles, Jets, and Vikings on Monday night also have the majority of the staffers picking them to win. In a week with four teams out on bye and Vegas having a small line on most of the games, having teams that you can confidently back this week is a big key to victory. 

DUAL SUPPORT

There are plenty of question marks with this weeks' matchups. Oakland is a favorite over Baltimore this week, but it is also the game with the fewest total confidence points (84). Tennessee at Miami is the closest game of the week with the Dolphins having a small advantage due to being at home. Other games to be careful on are the Bills at the Bengals, the Seahawks at the Rams, the Packers at the Cowboys and Chiefs at the Texans. 

ODDS AND ENDS

Four teams are on a bye this week, making 105 points the best possible score if a staffer picks every game correct. With so many close games, this week is going to be a wild one.
