Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 2

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 19 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Well the entire field got off to a terrible start with every staffer picking New England to win the Thursday Night Football opener against the Chiefs with an average of confidence weight of 13 points when 15 was the max! However, Jason Wood only missed two games after that, giving him an easy victory this week with 102 confidence points out of 120 possible. Both Holloway and Roberts only missed one additional game, but that's usually enough to miss the top spot.

New England was easily the biggest upset of the week, especially considering it was the game that has the most confidence points riding on it with 234. Houston's implosion at the hands of Jacksonville cost many people a big chunk as well, with 178 confidence points lost on that pick. Both Arizona and Washington were the favorites in their respective contests, but the matches were pretty even when it came to confidence points won or lost.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Seattle, Oakland and Tampa Bay are the easy choices this week, with the obvious reminder that New England was the easy choice last week as well. New England's loss didn't scare off most of the staff this week as well, and the Patriots, Chiefs, Steelers, Cardinals, Ravens, Chargers, and Rams are all heavy favorites with their respective contests this week and they should be near the top of your confidence pool boards.  

DUAL SUPPORT

The Monday Night matchup with the Giants and the Lions looks to be the toughest match to call this week. The Giants are a slight favorite with the staff, but 51 total confidence points show it to be the game that most people think could go either way. Green Bay vs. Atlanta, and Jacksonville vs. Tennessee also should be games that rank near the bottom of your board. 

ODDS AND ENDS

With all 16 teams playing this week, our maximum total points jumps back to 136 for a perfect score.  Note: Bear missed the article deadline to get his picks in this week. His picks will be included in the totals next week.
