Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 13

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 19 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect any late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

As expected, the large number of heavy favorites last week led to our highest scores of the season. 16 of the 18 teams posted more than 100 points and three teams posted more than 120. Will Grant took home the top weekly score for the third time this season with 122 points, and only three missed picks out of 16. Hicks finished second with 121 but he had 4 incorrect picks including Indianapolis which cost him the weekly win. Garda and Wimer both only missed two games, but bot lost heavy on KC and they finished in the middle of the weekly board.

Eight of the nine teams that were picked by the entire staff came out on top, leading to the inflated scores for the week. Buffalo's upset of KC hurt everyone, but with so many teams as heavy favorites, the teams that didn't risk a lot of points on KC ultimately finished near the top of the weekly matches.  

OVERALL RANKINGS

Brimacombe finished near the middle of the pack this week, but he still hold a solid 17 point lead on the rest of the overall leaderboard. After 12 weeks there are a few tiers that are starting to emerge but the top six teams are all still in the hunt. With five weeks to go, there is still plenty of time for people to catch the leader.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Some staffers are looking to take a flyer here or there but we still had five teams that came in as unanimous choices this week. Tennessee, Green Bay, Jacksonville, New Orleans and the Chargers were all picked by everyone this week and should probably be near the top of your weekly board as well. New England, Oakland, the Rams, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh were also heavy favorites this week by almost all of the staffers. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Tonight's game should be a slugfest between Washington and Dallas, and while Washington is the clear favorite, the Cowboys also have their backers. Miami is a favorite at home but several staffers believe that Denver can bounce back and pull off the upset. Detroit is a slight favorite to beat out the Ravens in Baltimore, but the 80 total confidence points make it the lowest confidence game of the week. 

ODDS AND ENDS

The late games on Sunday and Monday have teams that are heavy favorites for the most of the staff. That indicates that the early games will have the biggest impact on this week's winners. If you are looking to get a leg up on your competition this week and want to buck the trend a bit, throw a couple extra points on the late game underdogs this week.
