Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread): Week 7

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 18 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

James Brimacombe went into the Monday Night Football game with a slight lead, but the same pick as everyone else. Clayton Gray narrowed the gap, but it was too much to overcome Brimcombe's lead, giving him the win for the week when Arizona easily handled the Jets. Brimacombe actually missed six games compared to Clayton's five, but Gray lost 13 points on the Miami upset of the Steelers. Brimacombe also missed that game, but only lost 8 on it.

Denver started the week off on a down note, with only two staffers picking the San Diego upset on Thursday night. The Steelers were the biggest upset of the weekend though, with Miami costing the field for 215 points. The Eagles and Packers were not unanimous choices, but their two losses took down over 230 points between the two of them. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Brimacombe's win propelled him up the charts, and he moved into 3rd on the overall leaderboard. But with Wimer and Larkin both posting solid games, Larkin remains at the top of the board, maintaining his 20 point lead.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Green Bay leads off the weekend with a unanimous choice to win tonight’s game, despite picking people out of the crowd to run the ball. Apparently the dreaded Chicago-Green Bay rivalry isn’t as dreaded as it once was. The Bengals and Patriots both had over 200 confidence points allocated to them as well, and the Broncos are a unanimous choice to win the Monday night game. Buffalo, KC, Minnesota and Atlanta are also heavily favored to win their respective games this week.  

DUAL SUPPORT

There were several very low confidence games this week from the staff. Seattle at Arizona was the lowest, with just 66 total confidence points. Arizona is a slight favorite in that contest. Tampa Bay at San Francisco is right behind it with just 67, but Tampa is a much stronger favorite over the terrible 49er defense. Indy at Tennessee had just 77 total confidence points with the Titans being a slight home favorite, and Detroit is a 2-to-1 favorite over Washington, but with only 95 total confidence points for the game. Finally, the Giants are a slight favorite over the Rams, but the total game has just 106 confidence points, meaning a lot of these games should be near the bottom of your confidence board.
