Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 16

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 18 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Chris Feery finished at the top of the weekly leaderboard for the 3rd time this season. He's the only staffer to win the weekly contest 3 times this year (3 others have done it twice). Feery missed only three games this week, and didn't lose more than 9 points on any of them. In a twist, had Washington actually won on Monday night, Chris might have lost because Clayton Gray had 10 confidence points on Washington vs. Feery's 3 and it would have come down to the tiebreaker.

Kansas City was the big upset this week, with only Roberts picking the Titans to upset them on the road. The Vikings also took down 121 confidence points when they lost to the Colts at home last weekend.  

OVERALL RANKINGS

Well now it's going to get interesting. Dave Larkin looked like he had this wrapped up, but after a stumble this week, his lead is just 10 points on the overall board. That's his lowest lead of the season, with his next lowest being 13 points back in week 5. With two weeks to go. It's down to him and Bitonti for the overall win. Good luck to both of you.

HEAVY FAVORITES

New England is now the team that everyone's backing, especially this week against the lowly Jets. With 280 confidence points and a unanimous vote of confidence by the leaderboard, the Patriots are easily the team that should be at the top of yours. Green Bay and Seattle were also picked by everyone, and only Knotts was brave enough to pick the Browns to upset San Diego this week. A couple people picked Philadelphia to upset the Giants tonight, but the consensous choice is the Giants. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Tampa and New Orleans have both improved dramatically on defense from earlier in the season, so it's no wonder that this game had the lowest overall confidence total of just 74 this week. The Saints are a slight favorite to win. The Bengals at the Texans was another close one with neither team having any incentive to play and the Texans trotting out an inexperienced quarterback this week. The 49ers at the Rams had over 100 total confidence points, but the Rams are just a 20 point favorite at home. 

ODDS AND ENDS

Going into last week, it looked like Larkin had the whole thing locked up. One tough week though and Bitonti's right back in it. Larkin can extend his lead and put Bitonti on the edge, or Bitonti can narrow the gap even further, or possibly take the lead this week. It's definitely up for grabs now.
