Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 15

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 18 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Matt Bitonti crushed it last week. He missed only 1 game (the game that everyone picked) and finished with 123 total points, the second highest total points of anyone this season.  Alex Miglio finished a distant second with just 108 confidence points, and he missed four games this week. Nice job Matt.

The Indianapolis loss hurt everyone on the board. The entire staff picked them to win, and they had the highest total confidence points bet on them (220) for the week. After the 41-10 blowout of the Jets on Monday Night, the entire staff expected the Colts to easily beat the Texans at home last week. But the Texans jumped out to a 13-3 half-time lead and never looked back. The other upset losses were all under 100 total confidence points and didn't come close to the Indy loss. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Bitonti's big win vaulted him into second place, but he's still almost 30 points behind Larkin for the overall lead. Larkin finished this week with a respectable 102 points, and with just three weeks to go, he's going to have to make a major mistake to lose the overall title.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Seattle is a heavy favorite in Vegas to win tonight's game, so it's no surprise that the staffers placed a ton of confidence points on them to win this evening. Atlanta is red hot as of late, and with the lowly San Francisco 49ers traveling West to East to face them, It's no surprise that they are also heavily favored to win by the board. Other strong favorites include Pittsburgh, Houston, Kansas City, Buffalo, Baltimore and Green Bay. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Detroit and the Giants are both fighting for a playoff spot, and are scrappy teams that are winning any way they can as of late. The Giants are a slight favorite at home, but overall this game is close compared to many others on the board. The Patriots are favored to win despite being on the road, in Denver, on a short week after playing on Monday Night. But the Broncos have their supporters as well and this game may be closer than people expect. Oakland is a decent favorite over San Diego this week, but the overall game has very low confidence. This should be near the bottom of your office pool this week. 

ODDS AND ENDS

With just three weeks left, if you are not the overall leader, but are within striking distance, you've got to make a move now. Pick one or two games this week and go against the field, hoping for an upset. You don't need to risk a ton of confidence points on it to make up a lot of ground if you can pick the upset right. In a simple example from last week - Larkin picked the Saints over Tampa, but only put 1 confidence point on them. The Saints lost, and he lost just 1 point. But if the Saints had won, he'd have scored 103 this week, and Bitonti would have only had 109 because of losing 14 points on Tampa Bay. Larkin wouldn't have won this week, but his lead over Bitonti would have been 15 points larger.
