Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 14

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 18 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Chris Kuczyns finished at the top of the leaderboard this week. He missed only two games this week - the Eagles and the Falcons, and he only had 15 points of confidence on them. Dave Larkin also only missed 2 games as well, but he had 1 extra point of confidence lost and finished second this week. Interestingly the did not miss the same teams.

The Falcons and the Saints had the biggest impact on this week's leaderboard with upsets by Kansas City and Detroit hurting a lot of people. Philadelphia and San Diego also hurt a chunk of folks, but not nearly as bad as the Saints and Falcons. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Larkin's second place finish this week has extended his lead even further. He now has a commanding 45 point lead on second place. The #2 - #6 slot shifted around again with only 7 points seperating everyone in that pack.

HEAVY FAVORITES

The biggest point spreads from Vegas mark the teams that are the heaviest favorites this week. The Lions, Bengals, Colts and Patriots top the charts with all staffers picking them to win and each of them having 198 total confidence points or more. Atlanta and Minnesota were also strong favorites with only 1 staffer taking the Rams or Jaguars to pull off the upset. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Seattle at Green Bay was easily the toughest game to call for the Footballguys staff. The game itself has the lowest total confidence points of the week with just 87 and the Packers received just 1 additional point making this one of the closest games of the season to call. San Francisco has a decent backing over the visiting Jets after their Monday Night Meltdown, but the game itself still has less than 100 total confidence points on it. It should probably be ranked near the bottom of your weekly office pool. Arizona at Miami is also a close game with both teams receiving some lukewarm support. 

ODDS AND ENDS

And we're in the home stretch. Four weeks to go and 136 points maximum each week. In this pool. the winner is pretty clear and it's shaping up to be a battle for second. However, if you're behind in your local pool but still have a chance to catch up, there is still time to make a comeback. If you can manage your confidence pool points properly, you can still gain a lot of ground during this time.
