Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 8

We are proud to bring you the return of the Footballguys.com Staff Confidence Pool Challenge. 22 Staff members will pick the winner of each NFL game, and rank each choice from most confident (16 points) to least (1 point). As a tie-breaker, the person who is closest to the total points scored on the last Monday Night game will be the winner. Winners will be announced from week to week and the best overall record will be crowned Confidence pool Champion. Picks and ranks are due on Wednesday, so any late-breaking news may not be reflected in the choices. Also please note that no point spread is taken into account with these picks – it is a straight up pick of which NFL team will win this week. See the other confidence pools for picks against the spread (ATS) or Survivor / Eliminator style.

WEEK 7 RESULTS

Justin Howe had an impressive week, finishing eight points higher than the #2 guy Andy Hicks this week. Although he missed four games, he lost no more than six points on any contest, including his two lowest confidence games. Dan Hindery only missed three games, but he lost 12 confidence points taking Indianapolis over Jacksonville. Clayton Gray also missed just three games, but he lost 26 points on those three games, landing him in sixth.

Buffalo and Indianapolis cost the field dearly when they opened Sunday with losses. Those two games cost the field 300 confidence points. San Diego and Pittsbugh also cost the field another 260 confidence points. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Justin's big week pushed him into second place, just 14 points behind Jason Wood for the overall lead. Tuccitt had a solid week with 81 points and gained a little ground on Wood, but fell into 3rd place behind Howe. Larkin's 68 points though, caused him to drop a couple places on the overall board.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Tonight's game drew this week's biggest favorite - the unbeaten New England Patriots. Although the Dolphins have a couple supporters, the Patriots still received 235 confidence points. Atlanta and St. Louis also received more than 230 confidence points this week. Arizona, Seattle and Carolina were also heavy favorites this week. 

DUAL SUPPORT

Green Bay and Denver receved the lowest total confidence points with just 88. Houston and Tennessee were right behind them with only 89 confidence points. Yet Green Bay and Houston are the clear favorites in those games. The Steelers against the Begals is the toughest game to call, with the Bengals getting just 22 more points than the Steelers. 

ODDS AND ENDS

With 4 teams off this week on a bye, 105 points is still the maximum amount of confidence points that any player can win this week. 

Dan Tuccitto missed the cut-off for picks this week, but his picks will be included in next week's results.
