??TreVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots, Round 2, Pick 38
After getting Will Campbell to beef up their offensive line, the New England Patriots surround Drake Maye with more talent by selecting TreVeyon Henderson in round two with the 38th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Fantasy Football Impact
Henderson is a difference-making athlete who can make explosive plays both in the running and the receiving game. His highlight reel is filled with jaw-dropping plays and flashes of elite talent. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry last year, with just under a quarter of his runs going for more than 10 yards.
Henderson is a phenomenal fit in New England. He brings an explosive piece that they have been looking for. Rhamondre Stevenson is on the roster and that could limit Henderson's role a bit, but his relationship with New England has seemed to turn in the wrong direction after back-to-back mediocre seasons. The high pick at running back for New England, who have many other pressing needs to address, proves that well. While Stevenson may have a role as a physical, early down bruiser, expect Henderson to slowly but surely carve out a solid rushing role and a solid target share. The Patriots have a 31-year-old wide receiver in Stefon Diggs and a rookie third-round Kyle Williams, as their top two targets. There's talent, but it still is one of the more mediocre receiving rooms in the league. The Patriots' plan likely involves making the Ohio State product a primary target in the receiving game and working him in a committee with Stevenson as a runner, which will be golden for fantasy football, similar to a David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs kind of backfield, Henderson filling that Gibbs role.
The Fantasy Football Fallout (all about the team)
Drake Maye will love having Henderson as a receiver out of the backfield. While this is not the wide receiver we hoped New England would get, Henderson is a fun, explosive receiving option for Maye to throw the ball to. That causes a slight bump in my confidence for a potential breakout in year two for Drake Maye. Stefon Diggs and Kyle Williams will love their teammate, too. Due to Henderson's threatening presence both as a runner and receiver, Henderson will take pressure off them and give him more promising opportunities to get open.
Antonio Gibson is now buried on this depth chart and will likely become irrelevant for fantasy. Rhamondre Stevenson is also in trouble for fantasy. He is not all that good and will likely be subjected to an early down role. Touchdowns are likely his only chance to give you reasonable fantasy output week to week. Given Henderson and Drake Maye can both be red zone threats, touchdowns will not be dependable for Stevenson.

Overview
Henderson is a player who will not only take the pressure off Drake Maye by helping create a great run game but also be valuable to Maye as a receiver. The threat Henderson presents to defenses will also cause attention to move off of Stefon Diggs and Kyle Williams, giving them better opportunities as Drake Maye's top two wide receivers. Henderson will receive a massive workload in the run game and as a receiver due to the lack of weapons in New England's passing offense so that he will have an electric upside in fantasy football. Unfortunately, his success will come at the expense of Antonio Gibson and Rhamondre Stevenson, whose values have now severely diminished.
