Stefon Diggs Contract Terms
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Stefon Diggs is signing a three-year, $69 million deal with the New England Patriots, including $26 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Football Impact
Stefon Diggs, 31, is headed to the fourth team in his NFL career. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, Diggs quickly became a key figure on the offense. History was made on January 14, 2018, when, in the last seconds of the game, Diggs caught a 61-yard touchdown that won the Vikings the NFC divisional matchup against the New Orleans Saints: The Minneapolis Miracle.
During his five years in Minnesota, Diggs, working alongside his counterpart, Adam Thielen, was a force to reckon with. Then, in 2020, Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills, where his fantasy production soared. Over his four years in Buffalo receiving passes from Josh Allen, Diggs averaged 1,343 passing yards and nine touchdowns per year. In PPR scoring, every year while at the Bills, Diggs finished in the top ten of all wide receivers (3rd, 7th, 4th, and 9th, respectively). This was pure gold for fantasy managers.
Last year, the Houston Texans traded for this superstar talent only to have his year cut short in Week 8 when Diggs tore his ACL. The Texans weren't the best fit for his talent, as they already had a receiving star in Nico Collins. There were only so many targets to go around. Diggs is the kind of player who shines best at the top.
It's time to hit the reset button on Diggs' career and return to his elite fantasy production. What better place to do it than the New England Patriots?
The New England Patriots brought in their new franchise quarterback, Drake Maye, last season. Maye had 2,276 passing yards in 2024 but never had a true WR1 on the receiving end. In his debut season, Maye had DeMario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte for his receiving corps, but they were not significant for fantasy purposes. The only real asset fantasy managers could count on from the team was Hunter Henry; the veteran tight end was Maye's safety valve. With 97 targets on the year, Henry was peppered by Maye. But this was out of necessity. Maye didn't have an elite wide receiver in his arsenal. By bringing in Diggs on a three-year deal, the Patriots are giving their franchise quarterback what he deserves: a game-changing receiver.

The Fantasy Football Fallout
This move is nothing short of sugary goodness for Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs, and the New England Patriots. Over the past two years, the Patriots have been circling the drain with 4-13 records—far from the championship team they once were. This is the same franchise that dominated with six Super Bowl victories under Tom Brady. With a serious rebuild going on, Maye and Diggs are poised to take the team to the next level heading into 2025.
If Tank Dell wasn't expected to miss the 2025 season due to a severe knee injury suffered in Week 16, this move would have elevated his position on the Texans. Instead, the team brought in Christian Kirk to solidify the WR2 role behind Nico Collins. With Diggs no longer on the roster, the roles of Collins and Kirk as Stroud's top targets have been firmly established. While Diggs performed well in Minnesota alongside Thielen, he truly shined with the Bills, where he was able to stand out as the elite talent. Now, with the Patriots, there's no real competition for the top spot. As a result of Diggs' signing, Douglas and Boutte will see fewer targets, though neither were fantasy-relevant to begin with.
