Russell Wilson: Contract Terms
According to multiple reports, the New York Giants and free agent quarterback Russell Wilson reached an agreement Tuesday on a one-year deal worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Football Impact
Wilson will now fill out and lead a quarterback room that includes the recently signed Jameis Winston and the returning Tommy DeVito.
Wilson, who spent 2024 with the Steelers, visited the Browns and the Giants.
Wilson spent his first 10 years with the Seahawks and threw two touchdown passes in Seattle's Super Bowl XLVIII win. He has 46,135 passing yards, a 64.7 percent completion percentage (3,882 for 6,001), and 350 touchdown passes to 111 interceptions over a 13-year career.
However, he's now headed for his third team in as many seasons. Last year, after overcoming a calf injury sustained in the summer, Wilson started 11 games for the Steelers, coming on hot and finishing cold. He posted a 6-5 record as a starter with 225.6 yards passing per game, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Despite his struggles over the past few seasons, Wilson still throws a beautiful deep ball and should be at least a one-year boon for wide receivers Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton. So even if the quarterback isn't a desirable fantasy starter, he should be able to fuel the fantasy fortunes of the player -- Nabers -- fantasy managers will be watching most closely.
For the record, Wilson is currently QB26 on the Footballguys 2025 Draft Projections. He'll likely rise into the tail end of the QB2 conversation on the news of this signing, but Footballguy Jason Wood is optimistic about this signing.
"He was QB18 last year, and I don't see why he can't match those numbers with upside in New York, where they'll likely allow him to throw a few more attempts per game than he did in Pittsburgh," Wood said of Wilson.
"Russ may be maligned, but he's got a 5.8 percent touchdown rate for his career and put up 5.8 percent and 4.8 percent in the last two seasons."

Fantasy Football Fallout
Wilson now joins fellow former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields, who signed with the Jets, as the two New York QB1s -- for now, at least. The news also means New York's pursuit of Aaron Rodgers has concluded, and the now-former Jets quarterback is likely headed to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan, the signing of Wilson does not eliminate the possibility of the Giants taking a quarterback in next month's NFL draft. The team currently holds the No. 3 pick, and owner John Mara said at the end of this past season that the team's top priority and "No. 1 issue" was to find a quarterback for the future. Wilson, Winston, and DeVito aren't on long-term deals.
The addition of Wilson comes just days after the Giants agreed to terms with Winston. The terms of Winston's two-year, $8 million contract indicated it was more a backup-level deal. DeVito is a holdover who appeared in 12 games for the team the past two seasons.
While many had high hopes for Nabers with Winston at the helm (Jerry Jeudy was WR5 during the eight games with Winston as the starter in Cleveland last year), Wood predicts Nabers will be a top 3 to 5 fantasy receiver with Wilson
The second-year man currently sits at WR7 on our initial projections. Nabers finished his rookie season as fantasy's WR6 despite playing with four quarterbacks: Daniel Jones, DeVito, Drew Lock, and Tim Boyle.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are likely feeling more urgent about getting Rodgers under contract, although it's not clear he shares in that sentiment. Rodgers did meet with team officials and coaches in Pittsburgh last week. Multiple reports have indicated that Rodgers won't rush the decision, which has apparently narrowed down to the Steelers or retirement.
