Fantasy Football Impact
Jalen Milroe is a project as an NFL passer. Although he has shown flashes of being a capable quarterback, his consistency in going through reads and delivering accurate passes can be lacking. His pocket presence and awareness are also inconsistent. This presents a major risk in his NFL career. However, his exceptional ability to run the football presents an intriguing upside for fantasy football.
Drafting him in rookie drafts should be viewed as a long-term investment rather than a short-term solution, which is ideal for Milroe. He is not ready to start in week one, but reports show he is eager to learn. He has landed in a favorable situation in Seattle, where he can learn behind an experienced veteran like Sam Darnold for a year or two. This time will allow him to develop into a more consistent passer.
Suppose he eventually gets the opportunity to start. In that case, he will benefit from playing alongside talented receivers like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Elijah Arroyo, Cooper Kupp, and others that Seattle may have by then. While Milroe does carry significant long-term risk due to his lack of polish as a passer, he has the potential to become a difference-making fantasy asset if he can develop enough. To make some player comparisons, his worst-case scenario is what we've been seeing from Anthony Richardson, but he has Lamar Jackson-like upside with his electric running style. He’s worth considering in the later rounds of rookie drafts for the shot at upside.
The Fantasy Football Fallout
By making this pick, Seattle appears to view Sam Darnold as a bridge quarterback rather than a potential franchise player. Darnold now has much more pressure to perform now that Milroe is sitting behind the bench. If he plays poorly this season, it would be fair to expect Seattle fans to get rowdy and try to push for their team to put in the electric rookie.
If Milroe does get a starting opportunity, the receiving group could be downgraded for fantasy purposes due to Milroe's questionable ability to read the field and throw the football accurately.

- Jaxon Smith-Njigba (if Milroe takes significant snaps)
Overview
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Jalen Milroe in the third round as a long-term project due to his raw abilities, but he has exciting rushing potential for fantasy football. While he has immense risk, he is not expected to start immediately behind veteran Sam Darnold. Milroe offers significant upside long-term if he develops his passing capabilities well. This pick suggests Seattle views Darnold as a temporary option. If Milroe were to start prematurely, it could negatively impact the fantasy value of the Seahawks' receiving corps.
