Fantasy football leagues are won on the waiver wire. Our waiver wire tools at Footballguys make it easy.
Every week, our Sigmund Bloom writes about every trending player in the NFL, moving players up and down based on what we’ve seen. For players who are mostly available in fantasy football leagues, he’ll provide an estimated amount of FAAB to bid on the waiver wire.
These waiver wire tips are essential in winning your fantasy football league. In this article, we’ll highlight a handful of noteworthy players. But for deeper leagues and more waiver wire additions, check out our full Upgrade and Downgrades feature.

Waiver Wire Quarterbacks
QB Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis (bid 50-100%)
Richardson is going to be just fine. The Colts and their quarterback have put the benching behind them, and now we are seeing why the organization was willing to pin their future on the raw but talented prospect. Richardson was accurate as a downfield passer and allowed to run with physicality in the red zone, scoring twice on the ground. He could be a top-five fantasy quarterback going forward and has a sky-high ceiling in Week 12 against Detroit.
QB Jameis Winston, Cleveland (bid 10-20%)
Winston bounced back from a rough Week 10 against the Chargers with a very productive performance in the Superdome. He is extending plays and taking chances that are being converted by his deep (yes, even without Amari Cooper) group of pass-catchers. Winston isn't a preferred streamer until Week 16 against Cincinnati, with the Steelers twice, Denver, and Kansas City up in the next four weeks, but he's still fine emergency depth. Hopefully, the Browns don't turn to Dorian Thompson-Robinson any time soon, even though he could get them a better draft pick than Winston.
QB Gardner Minshew II, Las Vegas (bid 1-3%)
Minshew made it through a week without getting benched, and he was smart enough to feed Brock Bowers. The next two weeks against Denver and Kansas City are tough, but Minshew can at least be garbage-time emergency depth as we finish out the bye-week gauntlet.
Waiver Wire Running Backs
RB Trey Benson, Arizona (bid 15-30%)
Benson should have been held through his bye, but check to see if he's on waivers, just in case. He was starting to come on before the bye, James Conner isn't known for his durability, and the Cardinals offense looks like it is going to peak in the second half of the season.
RB Roschon Johnson, Chicago (bid 15-30%)
Johnson scored from short yardage and appears to be a lesser member of a committee under new play-caller Thomas Brown, not a mere backup. He has standalone value as a flex but big injury upside if D'Andre Swift goes down.
RB Cam Akers, Minnesota (bid 15-25%)
Akers scored on a reception and was on the field for 37% of the snaps in Week 11, which is more than a mere backup. Akers also got 12 touches to Aaron Jones' 16, another sign of tightening into a committee. Akers has Jones-injury upside, but he can also be a viable desperation play down the stretch.
RB Jaylen Wright, Miami (bid 12-25%)
Wright was on the field more than Raheem Mostert in Week 11, and Mostert visited the sidelines with an injury again. Wright is the player we want to roster for injury upside if De'Von Achane goes down.
RB Blake Corum, LA Rams (12-25%)
Corum actually got a goal-to-go carry against the Patriots but didn't convert. The Rams continue to play with fire by giving Kyren Williams so much work when he isn't built like a typical lead back and suffered multi-week injuries in both years of his career to date. Corum could be a league winner if Williams goes down.
Waiver Wire Wide Receivers
WR Christian Watson, Green Bay (bid 20-40%)
Watson is heating up as a deep option for Jordan Love. Love found Watson on a busted coverage and also threw into double coverage, and Watson converted. If Watson can be a good play when Love only throws 17 times, he's definitely worth spending big if he was dropped during his bye.
WR Elijah Moore, Cleveland (bid 10-20%)
Moore had a skillful touchdown catch in the back of the end zone, and he has at least six catches in two of Jameis Winston's three starts. He's basically on the field as much as the starters as the slot receiver because this team plays from behind for most of the game. He's worth a PPR flex play against the Steelers on Thursday.
WR Alec Pierce, Indianapolis (bid 10-20%)
Pierce is the top downfield target for Anthony Richardson, who is finding his way as a passer. While Pierce is a true boom/bust option, the Colts aren't afraid to throw deep, and we've already seen Pierce's weekly ceiling before Richardson was improving.
WR Kayshon Boutte, New England (bid 10-20%)
Boutte is still the Patriots' only full-time receiver, and he has had six targets in each of the last four games. He's only depth in long bench leagues, but as Drake Maye's game comes along, Boutte's value could grow come fantasy playoff time.
WR Quentin Johnston, LA Chargers (bid 10-20%)
Johnston only caught two of his eight targets, but both went for over 20 yards, one went for a score. So it was still a solid showing if you flexed him in Week 11. With Justin Herbert coming on, Johnston should be rostered as upside depth that you might use with a good matchup against Baltimore this week.
Waiver Wire Tight Ends
TE Will Dissly, Seattle (bid 10-20%)
Dissly has at least four catches and six targets in four of the last five games as he is emerging as a trusted target for an ascendant Justin Herbert. Dissly faces a soft Ravens pass defense this week, so he should go straight from the wire into your lineup.
TE Cole Kmet, Chicago (bid 5-10%)
Kmet didn't have a big Week 11 but was the clear full-time tight end for the first time since Shane Waldron was fired (which led to Gerald Everett's role being reduced), and the Bears offense improved greatly. He could have some value down the stretch as a red zone and middle-of-the-field target for Caleb Williams.
