One of the best and most comprehensive features we do every year is our Footballguys Preseason Updates. Every week this month, our Bob Henry, Jason Wood, Clayton Gray, and their team of Footballguys Staffers cover every player that matters from every NFL team. It's 32-plus pages of some of the most comprehensive coverage you'll find. It's probably worth the Footballguys Premium Subscription by itself.
While I encourage you to read every word on every team for every week, I also understand "Life Happens." And one of the more valuable services Footballguys can add is saving you time.
For this article, I had the idea of taking the full August Updates and asking our team writers to distill it down into 80 proof shots of the Need-to-Know material. Some teams will have more news than others because that's how it works in real life. Much of it will be from the August Updates, some of it will be my takes, but all of it will hopefully be useful to you. And make sure to jump on our Premium Subscription to continue seeing this type of stuff all year long. And if this feature is helpful to you, shoot me an email at bryant@footballguys.com and let me know.
Plus a new addition for this year. For each team, I've included a link to our Depth Charts and also to the Full Camp Report. If you like these bullets and want more detail, check out the Full Camp Report for each team.
Please note: The Full Camp Reports for each team will be available Wednesday morning.
Let's get to it.
Arizona Cardinals | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- The team has high hopes for QB Kyler Murray and he's reportedly “leaps and bounds” ahead of last year.
- RB James Conner will receive most of the work as rookie Trey Benson continues to get acclimated.
- TE Trey McBride continues to get comfortable with the system and is looking forward to being the main guy for an expected large workload.
- DL Darius Robinson sustained a calf injury and may be placed on injured reserve to start the season; would be eligible to return in Week 5.
Atlanta Falcons | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- QB Kirk Cousins' experience is evident and this is expected to be a high-producing fantasy offense.
- RBs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier shared the rush opportunities 15 to 7 in the game situation intrasquad scrimmage, with both getting two targets; this split representation feels realistic.
- WR Drake London has had a great summer and has given every reason to believe he will be an elite fantasy producer.
- WR Darnell Mooney is locked into an every-down role, emerging late in camp and leading the offense with five targets in the scrimmage.
- TE Kyle Pitts will have an every-down role, working both inline and split out as the team rotates WR Ray-Ray McCloud and TEs Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley to scheme personnel.
Baltimore Ravens | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- QB Lamar Jackson was under heavy pressure in joint practices against the Packers defense and took too many sacks.
- RBs Derrick Henry and Justice Hill will handle all the running back touches, with Henry in line for another workhorse season.
- WR Zay Flowers ended camp on a high note with multiple dominant practices.
- WR Rashod Bateman is healthy and performed well against the Packers.
- TE Mark Andrews has not returned to practice since a car accident nearly two weeks ago, but he appears to be at no risk of missing Week 1.
Buffalo Bills | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- QB Josh Allen was held out of the last two preseason games. He will try to elevate the offense following turnover in the receiver room.
- RB James Cook is the feature back but expect rookie Ray Davis to fill a role as a change-of-pace option.
- At WR, Khalil Shakir is likely to be relied upon heavily as the slot receiver with Curtis Samuel and Keon Coleman also contributing.
- TE Dalton Kincaid has TE1 potential but may also share snaps with Dawson Knox.
- On defense, the unit should remain above average but there are key question marks at linebacker and safety.
Carolina Panthers | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- QB Bryce Young saw his first preseason action and led an impressive touchdown drive.
- RB Chuba Hubbard will take the lion's share of carries while the team waits on Jonathon Brooks to get healthy.
- WRs Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen are expected to be the team's leading receivers.
- Rookie WR Xavier Legette is still learning the offense after missing time with a foot injury.
Chicago Bears | Depth Chart | Footballguys Full Camp Report
- For what it's worth, the Bears went 4-0 in preseason, hopefully sparking a much-needed culture change.
- QB Caleb Williams looks ready to lead the Bears with QB Tyson Bagent slotting in as an above-average backup.
- WRs DJ Moore, Rome Odunze, and Keenan Allen are the team's biggest strength and are all playing well.
- RB D'Andre Swift sits atop the pecking order, but expect to see a rotation of backs getting touches out of the backfield.
