You've likely seen our official Footballguys Offensive Line rankings. A ton of research goes into them, and I stand by them. The model used to create those rankings has been around for several years. It is solid.
At the same time, just as with fantasy rankings at other positions, some lines could be better or worse or all over the place.

Let's look at three offensive lines that could be overrated.
Overrated OL: Cleveland
Pos | Starter | Current Rankings |
---|---|---|
LT | Jedrick Wills | 6th overall |
LG | Joel Bitonio | 4th in run blocking |
C | Ethan Pocic | 11th in pass blocking |
RG | Wyatt Teller | |
RT | Dawand Jones |
All-Pro LG Joel Bitonio and RG Wyatt Teller are great. And this line has been good for a while. But it could be due for a correction. Legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan has departed for Tennessee. Starting tackles LT Jedrick Wills (knee) and RT Jack Conklin (knee) can't get off PUP. James Hudson (ankle) has been spotty in relief. RT Dewand Jones is good, but LT is a real question heading into the season. In depth news, backup center Luke Wypler broke his leg, causing the team to trade a pick to Seattle for Nick Harris.
Overrated OL: Cincinnati
Pos | Starter | Current Rankings |
---|---|---|
LT | Orlando Brown | 8th overall |
LG | Cordell Volson | 9th in run blocking |
C | Ted Karras | 19th in pass blocking |
RG | Alex Cappa | |
RT | Trent Brown |
The tackle duo of LT Orlando Brown (4x Pro Bowl) and RT Trent Brown (1x Pro Bowl) is excellent on paper. But with rookie Amarius Mims (round 1 – Georgia) out several weeks with a strained pectoral (chest), the spotlight is firmly on Brown, who has only finished a complete regular season twice in his 9-year career. Cody Ford is a versatile backup but not an ideal fit at RT. Brown will be healthy and extra motivated to face his former team, New England, in the season opener, but I'll feel better about the Bengals' top-10 ranking when Mims gets healthy.
Overrated OL: LA Rams
Pos | Starter | Current Rankings |
---|---|---|
LT | Aleric Jackson | 18th overall |
LG | Jonah Jackson | 12th in run blocking |
C | Steve Avila | 10th in pass blocking |
RG | Kevin Dotson | |
RT | Rob Havenstein |
In an ideal world with everyone healthy and available, this mid-teen ranking would be fair, maybe even a little low. But starting LT Alaric Jackson is suspended two games for conduct and RT Rob Havenstein is week-to-week with an ankle injury. Joe Noteboom will start two games for Jackson, but there's no definitive word on Havenstein. New LG Jonah Jackson (Detroit) has been out several weeks with an ankle injury of his own, but he rejoined practice and should be on track to start the season. Still, there's just a lot of uncertainty around this Rams' group at the moment.
