IDP Dynasty Sleepers examines an array of linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs you should target. Depending on the makeup of your leagues, these players could be trade targets or solid grab-and-stash types who might be found on the waiver wire.
Dynasty Sleeper: LB Dee Winters, San Francisco
Fred Warner is too good of a linebacker to be putting up the terrible numbers he's been putting up, but it bears mentioning. De'Vondre Campbell will be a free agent in 2025, and while Dre Greenlaw will likely be around, he's a UFA as well. Winters could be a cheaper option for the Niners, especially since they are going to be faced with many "business decisions" in terms of resigning players. We all know how productive the Niner linebackers can be from a fantasy perspective, so you definitely could do worse than plugging Winters onto your bench or taxi squad in preparation for 2025 and beyond.
Dynasty Sleeper: LB Vi Jones, Tampa Bay
We've covered the Buccaneer depth at linebacker here previously, but add another name into the fold here with Jones. Lavonte David is going to be 35 entering the 2025 season and is an unrestricted free agent in 2025. While he will likely be back, who knows who his running mate will be. K.J. Britt? J.J. Russell? Neither has been overly impressive. Why not Jones? Worth a stash in larger formats.
Dynasty Sleeper: LB Joe Andreessen, Buffalo
Now that Matt Milano is back, Dorian Williams has taken a back seat in the Bills' linebacker rotation. But it's actually Andreessen who backs up the middle spot and Terrel Bernard. Bernard has been terrific, but if he were to go down with an injury, would it be Williams or Andreessen filling in? It's worth adding the undrafted rookie out of nearby Buffalo University in larger formats.
Dynasty Sleeper: DL K'Lavon Chaisson, Las Vegas
Don't look now, but this edge rusher is on a roll. Coming out of LSU, he had some nice tape but kind of got lost in the linebacker/edge shuffle in Jacksonville. In the past two contests, he has two sacks, an INT, and four solo stops. Obviously, we'd like to see more tackles in terms of establishing a fantasy floor, but the big plays are nice. His next two contests are cherry, too (Atlanta and Jacksonville). If you're looking for a big splash play at the position, he's worth adding and starting. And who knows, he could be part of the rotation opposite Maxx Crosby in 202,5 even with Malcolm Koonce back in the mix.
Dynasty Sleeper: DL Anthony Nelson, Tampa Bay
Nelson has been on and off many dynasty rosters for the past few years. He tends to disappear from time to time, but when he gets on a roll, he can really fill the box score. And what's best about him is that he can do it in different ways. In Week 13, he had five solos and a fumble recovery. In Week 12, he had five total tackles and a sack. Last week, only two tackles but broke up a pass. YaYa Diaby will be another Buc edge to target, but look at Nelson, too.
Dynasty Sleeper: DL Bryan Bresee, New Orleans
Bresee may not be a volume tackler (which you usually want from a defensive tackle), but he seems to be around the ball a lot. He's got 7.5 sacks on the season and batted down a pair of passes this past weekend. He should be rostered if you're in a league that starts defensive tackles separately. At some point, the tackles will come, raising his floor a bit.
Dynasty Sleeper: DB Kaevon Merriweather, Tampa Bay
Yes, another Buc. But this is a priority add for those who will be without Antoine Winfield Jr for the rest of the fantasy season. Winfield's dinged, and Merriweather, in his place, came through with seven total tackles and a sack last week. Winfield will go back to top-dog status in terms of fantasy defensive backs in 2025, but for the remainder of this season, Merriweather will be the guy. Worth starting in most formats and worth a stash, too, for those looking for a sleeper in 2025.
Dynasty Sleeper: DB Daryl Worley, Tennessee
Worley had a down week on Sunday, tallying just five total stops, but the week prior, he had 17. Seventeen! Look for him to be busy again against the Bengal offense this coming week. He may not be a priority add for 2025, but if you miss out on Merriweather and need help at safety, he'll work in a pinch.
Dynasty Sleeper: DB Tarheeb Still, LA Chargers
Except for a Week 10 outlier, ever since Week 9, this guy has been on fire. He's doing it with tackling and pass breakups on a pretty consistent basis. Call it the Rookie Corner Rule if you want, but he's getting tested and coming through with fantasy production. Look for him to be busy yet again against the Bucs next week. And those of you in leagues that start cornerbacks independently can target him as a solid add for 2025, too.
