Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly with examples and completed dynasty trades.
This week, we'll focus on the quarterback position for contending and pretending (aka teams not contending) dynasty teams.
All trades are Superflex unless stated otherwise
Contending Teams
QB Dak Prescott, Dallas
Dak Prescott is undervalued again in dynasty. The market has Prescott in the QB10-15 range despite his established productive profile and only being in his early 30s. Prescott is QB9 in PPG through five weeks, and signs point to Prescott being among the league leaders in pass attempts. Dallas' defense is leaky (and injured), and their run game is among the worst in the NFL. Prescott is an ideal QB2 for a contending team, plus provides a runway of many years. Expect to see Prescott mentioned annually as a value play as he is unlikely to crash the top 10 dynasty quarterbacks in market value again considering his age and the market's proclivity to boost younger flash profiles and potential.
- Prescott for Isiah Pacheco, 2nd
- Prescott for Caleb Williams, Tyrone Tracy Jr.
- Prescott for Tank Dell, 1st
Giving a 1st+ is perfectly reasonable for Prescott. While many would scoff at giving Caleb Williams for Prescott, a reminder the average 1.01-drafted quarterback finishes as QB24 in their first season. Williams currently sits as QB23 in PPG and largely irrelevant for Superflex leagues.
