Welcome to the dynasty trading post, where optimizing strategy, roster construction, format, and player value oscillations are examined weekly with examples and completed dynasty trades.
This week, we'll focus on quarterback profiling and rebalancing rosters with surprise running back value.

Moving On From QB Deshaun Watson, Houston
Theme of the Week: Seek Security
Deshaun Watson has flatly been a disappointment in Cleveland. We are more than two seasons into Watson's time with the Browns and his decision-making, accuracy, and processing are all lagging. There is still a market to exit in Superflex leagues, but the window could be closing. Cleveland has one of the better rosters in the NFL and Jameis Winston is one of the higher-end QB2 options.
Here are a few key Watson trades this week with him as a sell valuation and recommendation:
- Watson, Daniel Johnson, Derrick Henry for Justin Herbert, Bryce Young, Keaton Mitchell
- Watson, 25 1st, 26 2nd, 27 1st for Justin Herbert, Rashee Rice, 27 2nd
- Watson, Jordan Mason for Trevor Lawrence
- Watson, 25 2nd for 27 1st
- Watson and Christian Watson for 25 1st
Getting a future 1st is staying liquid with a Watson sell, even if adding to the Watson side. Paying the additional capital to shift to Justin Herbert is warranted, considering how Watson could continue to mire or fall in market interest. Finally, even if Trevor Lawrence is not your final destination at quarterback, shifting from Watson to Lawrence is a significant step up in future options to continue to upgrade as QB1 or QB2 on a dynasty depth chart.
