The ongoing nature of dynasty teams creates a lot of advantages for dynasty GMs who use good strategy and roster construction. Free agency, trades, the NFL Draft, and the different news cycles lead to different strategies for different positions. This series will focus on different moves to make this month.
Do You Have a Need?
Before addressing a lineup issue, be sure you have an actual need.
If you have a wide receiver problem on your dynasty team, ask yourself if you actually need to address the position.
Specifically, ask yourself how the roster move will improve the wide receivers in your lineup. If you cannot improve multiple points per game by adding a wide receiver, your addition of the wide receiver is just creating more roster fodder.
If you have a wide receiver hole, remember rookies are unlikely to solve the problem during the season. The hit rate is low, so there is a real chance selecting a rookie wide receiver will leave your lineup with the same type of need.
