Welcome to Week 16 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Overrated/Underrated 2024 NFL Draft Prospects
- System or Player? The QB Edition
- The Leave-Add-Start Game (see below)
- For Real/Fool's Gold - TE Playoff Edition
Let's roll.
The Leave-Add-Start Game
Matt Waldman: The following players delivered fantasy value in Week 15...
- Tyler Goodson (RB25)
- Emari Demercado (RB15)
- Ty Chandler (RB5)
- Elijah Higgins (TE7)
- Tre Tucker (WR15)
- David Moore (WR24)
Answer the following...
Pick Two You're Leaving on the Waiver Wire
Daniel Harms: David Moore and Tyler Goodson can stay on the waiver wire. Moore and Goodson have rarely been active this season and are seldom called upon. There’s optimism that Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss could return this week along with Nico Collins in Houston. Both can stay on the wire.
Zareh Kantzabedia: I'm leaving Emari Demercado and David Moore on the waiver wire. Demarcado isn't taking any meaningful work from Conner, and the odds are low that he will break another long touchdown run.
Moore has barely been a factor on the Bucs. Nobody will be kicking themselves for not starting either player during the playoffs.
Matt Montgomery: Tyler Goodson and David Moore. I would leave these two on the wire because I need to see more to believe it. Both players emerged from out of nowhere, which is always fun to see, but to give them a precious roster spot in the money weeks of the fantasy football playoffs. However, they need to make your watch list and should be monitored down the stretch.
Jeff Bell: David Moore is the definition of chasing points. He has hardly played due to injury and has three catches on the season. He caught a short pass that turned into a big play due to poor angles by the defense. At 28 and, in the best case, the fourth receiver in his offense, he is safe to leave on the wire.
Emari Demercado came into the week as Arizona's clear third running back. He had five touches, and one turned into a 49-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, down three scores. He is one to watch for the future, depending on what the team does with James Conner. But you will not be starting a potential third-string running back on the Arizona Cardinals in your fantasy championship game.
Ryan Weisse: I have no interest in David Moore or Elijah Higgins. Moore had just two targets and scored a 52-yard touchdown. That means 12.2 of his 14.8 fantasy points came on one play that he is unlikely to repeat. As for Higgins, it doesn't take much to be a viable fantasy tight end, and his one score this week shot him up the ranks. He is a clear backup to Trey McBride, who saw extra action in a blowout loss.
Joey Wright: I would leave David Moore and Emari Demercado on the waiver wire. Both players are too far down on their team’s depth chart for me to feel confident in following up their good Week 15 stat lines.
Christian Williams: I would leave Elijah Higgins and David Moore on the waiver wire. Tyreek Hill should return in Week 16, and Baker Mayfield's Week 15 explosion isn't the norm for the Bucs offense.
Dave Kluge: Jonathan Taylor might return in Week 16. If he doesn’t, I expect Trey Sermon to be involved, so I’ll leave Tyler Goodson on waivers. And with how deep tight ends have suddenly become, I don’t have much interest in Elijah Higgins either.
