A great source for evaluating players is comparing a player’s Dynasty valuation with the redraft market. To do this, you compared their Dynasty valuation with their Best Ball ADP. Players with higher Dynasty valuations than Best Ball ADPs are overvalued in the near term, while players with higher Best Ball ADPs than Dynasty values are undervalued. This is particularly true later in Dynasty drafts when longevity is less of a concern. This article focuses on tight ends who are overvalued in Dynasty.

The tight ends below are poor targets for win-now Dynasty teams.
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
Best Ball TE27 – Dynasty TE16
Trey McBride is a classic overvalued profile in Dynasty fantasy football. Of the 19 tight ends selected in the second round of the NFL Draft with 100 routes in their rookie season since 2010, McBride (0.84) ranks ahead of only Vance McDonald (0.63) in YPRR. McBride only ranked ahead of only Vance McDonald (9.5%) and Gavin Escobar (11.6%) in the percentage of routes he was targeted on (12.3%). He did this all while ranking third among the 19 tight ends in routes run during their rookie season. McBride has a Dynasty valuation of TE16, which was in line with where he was valued in his rookie season, while his Best Ball ADP is TE27. McBride had a poor start and is projected to have a poor second season, which makes him a priority Dynasty sale candidate, particularly if you sell him for what you paid for him.
Mike Gesicki, New England Patriots
Best Ball TE25 – Dynasty TE19
Mike Gesicki tested as an elite athlete at the NFL combine, but that athleticism has never come through in his game. Gesicki had a career-best season of 73 receptions, 780 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in 2021, but new head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense played him off the field in 2022, holding him to only 32 receptions, his worst performance since his rookie season. Gesicki signed a prove-it-type deal with the Patriots and will play under offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien but will be behind Hunter Henry on the depth chart. Gesicki’s Dynasty value is largely based on his name value at this point of his career, and his Best Ball TE25 ADP forecasts a significant drop from his TE19 Dynasty valuation.
