We know when we're officially into NFL Draft season when the Scouting Combine officially comes around each year in Indianapolis.
NFL executives and coaches from all 32 teams descend into Indy to find the potential next face of their franchise, and it all starts here.
In this series of articles, we'll be breaking down the notable news from each day of the heralded event, some impressive performances, and the latest rumors you need to know.
2023 NFL Combine Recap: Day 3
Notable News Of the Day
Keenan Allen appears to be in the Chargers' plans for 2023.
GM Tom Telesco appeared on Good Morning Football on Wednesday morning and stated that there had been no thought of possibly trading Keenan Allen this offseason. This is a strong endorsement coming from the front office. But the Chargers are going to have to make some tough decisions here soon as they're sitting well above the salary cap, and Allen carries a $21,700,000 cap number going into 2023.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jalen Carter in Athens, Georgia.
There's a lot to unpack in this developing news story from Wednesday involving one of the top prospects in this draft, but it's always best practice to wait for all of the information before jumping to conclusions. If you're interested in learning more about the details of the warrant, you can read that here.

The Latest Rumors
The Giants are "nowhere near" Daniel Jones' asking price for a new contract.
A contract impasse seems to be brewing in New York as Jones' camp is reportedly pushing for a contract that the Giants do not seem prepared to offer him. If the two sides are truly this far apart, Jones will likely play on the franchise tag in 2023, which would open the door for Saquon Barkley to walk in free agency.
The Carolina Panthers may potentially bring back Sam Darnold.
This does not mean that the Panthers will sign Darnold to a significant contract or that he's going to be their starting QB in 2023, but they have to do something at the position before the NFL Draft. Matt Corral is the only QB currently under contract for next season, so the team needs other options on the roster and is exploring all options, including Derek Carr.
The Miami Dolphins are open to extending Tua Tagovailoa.
Tua played incredibly well for Miami last season in Mike McDaniel's system, but durability is a major question mark moving forward for the young QB. If Miami does extend Tua, it would assumedly have plenty of "outs" for the franchise if Tua were to deal with injuries again.
Jamaal Williams may return to Detroit.
The veteran running back is coming off of a phenomenal season that saw him score a league-leading 17 rushing touchdowns, and there is reportedly mutual interest in him continuing his NFL career with the Lions. Despite leading the league in touchdowns, it's highly unlikely that Williams will command top-of-the-market money on this next contract.
Baker Mayfield could be a starting QB again in 2023.
Mayfield played well - all things considered - during his short stint with the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the 2022-2023 NFL regular season. The issue that Mayfield's camp will have to sell his next team on is that he hasn't been very good up to that point. However, quarterbacks are always in demand in the NFL - especially those who were once drafted highly - and it wouldn't be surprising to see a team like Tampa Bay bring in Mayfield to compete with Kyle Trask for the starting job next season.
