QB JOE BURROW, CINCINNATI BENGALS
Theme of the Week: Playing through injury.
Burrow has been an abject disappointment for fantasy through three weeks at QB31 in PPG. The optics in Week 3 included a limitation with downfield throws and an invisible rushing presence. With weeks of recovery in front of him, Burrow has the likelihood of sagging down in this unstartable or lineup liability zone for a huge chunk of the season, even if he stays on the recovery track without a setback. Even if tepid on Burrow in the macro, Burrow offers more ability to upgrade later once he is healthy and producing well to Patrick Mahomes II or Josh Allen than many other quarterbacks in the QB5-15 zone.
Sigmund Bloom outlined the sentiment from Week 3 for the Bengals and Joe Burrow.
Here are a few key Burrow trades this week with him as a buy valuation and recommendation:
- Burrow for C.J. Stroud, Tyler Allgeier, 25 3rd
- Burrow for Justin Fields, Rashee Rice, 25 1st
- Burrow for Geno Smith, Joshua Dobbs, Puka Nacua, 24 1st
- Burrow for Jordan Love, Jordan Addison, 24 2nd, 24 2nd
The theme is using a lesser quarterback to move up to Burrow, an insulated profile at a premium position. The added picks and players are more than worth the added security of Burrow as an NFL starter and success track profile compared to Stroud, Fields, Smith, and Love.
