Theme of the Week: Slow-to-react market

Javonte Williams not only has been cleared, but he played in Denver's preseason game and was utilized heavily in the passing game. These are all positive signs for Williams to return value this season. The market is warming to Williams in recent trading, but has it been enough? Williams has three-down ability on an offense primed to feature the position.

Key trade idea: Javonte Williams for George Pickens, 2024 2nd

Seeking elite results and upside is one of the primary methods to shifting your ceiling outcomes for a dynasty franchise. George Pickens and a future 2nd are not ceiling plays considering Pickens' profile (ancillary wide receiver without an elite quarterback, low efficiency in Year 1) and a non-Round 1 future pick. Williams does have ceiling outcomes, however, and being healthy in 2023 is one of the few requirements.

Key trade idea: Aaron Rodgers, Javonte Williams for Breece Hall, 2024 2nd

Breece Hall and Javonte Williams' divergent dynasty market valuations have been mentioned frequently as quizzical by Footballguys' Jordan McNamara. Both are Round 2 pedigree and coming off of significant injuries in 2022 after showing promise. Williams is back to the field first, and Hall's depth chart added Dalvin Cook. Still, Hall has a meaningfully higher trade value. This is playing the running back arbitrage game (and with more outs with strong production this season) and getting Aaron Rodgers without giving up a future 1st on the back end of the trade.
