The appeal of playing dynasty fantasy football is that you never fully stop building your rosters. There is always time to make moves to either help build a contender or rebuild your struggling roster. Now that the 2022 class has come and gone, it's time to start looking ahead to the 2023 class. This season, we will provide fantasy managers with a top-36 big board that will be updated weekly to reflect the top 36 draft-eligible players in college football. The hope is that this big board will give you actual names and value to any draft picks you are trying to trade or acquire.
Standout Performances
RB Zach Charbonnet (RS Jr – UCLA): 6-foot-1, 220 lbs
The UCLA running back returned to school this season and has not disappointed. He has rushed for over one hundred yards in five of six games this season, including 151 yards this last weekend against Oregon. Charbonnet has checked every box he needs to do from an analytics and film perspective this year. He has rushed for over 750 yards and seven touchdowns and is a big reason why UCLA is competing for a Pac-12 championship this season. Charbonnet has proven to be a workhorse this year, having four games over twenty carries and answering questions about his consistency from last season. Based on his performance on the field, it would be a shock to see Charbonnet not be a day-two pick.
WR Zay Flowers (Sr - Boston College): 5-foot-10, 172 lbs
Flowers is healthy this season, and it shows. The young Boston College receiver has 52 receptions this season for 691 yards and six touchdowns and has demonstrated his versatility on the field this season for the Eagles. This year, he has lined up in the slot and on the outside, showing an ability to stretch the field better than he has the past three seasons. He has had four touchdown receptions of over forty-nine yards. He is among the best YAC receivers in college football, and his profile fits NFL offenses. His testing will significantly impact his draft capital, but if he hits specific measurables, there is a chance he could be a day-two pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
RB Mohamed Ibrahim (Sr - Minnesota): 5-foot-10, 210 lbs
Ibrahim has been a revelation this season. Many started to write him off as a prospect, coming off an Achilles injury, but he has rushed for at least a hundred yards in each game this season. Penn State beat down Minnesota on Saturday, but Ibrahim was the one bright spot in the game for the Gophers. He ran for 100 yards rushing for the 15th straight game and is starting to shoot up draft boards. He’s shown impressive athleticism and explosion this year and has done enough to get drafted. He’s also shown to be a workhorse having a season-high thirty attempts against Penn State and showing no sign of slowing down.
2023 Class Dynasty Narratives
Over the weekend, we saw a devastating injury to Jets running back Breece Hall. Many in the fantasy landscape have talked about Breece’s ACL injury as a significant turning point in how people will play the format in the future. Running backs have proven time and time again that they are the most volatile assets in fantasy. We have seen injuries derail the careers of J.K. Dobbins, Cam Akers, Travis Etienne, Javonte Williams, and Breece Hall, who were all valued highly in devy leagues. The question is, what do we do with these prospects moving forward? Bijan Robinson seems like a can't-miss prospect, but with the risk of injury, I have shared my concerns with him finishing out the year with Texas. In devy formats, this risk can be amplified while they sit on your taxi squad, unable to score points. As managers, we must understand when to take risks and when to go for a championship in our leagues. A player like Robinson is untradeable, but there are other running backs in this class that you could move for potential win-now pieces. Don’t let those windows close because when they do, they slam shut. Any running back outside of Robinson should be considered a tradable asset in your leagues. Remember, the goal in fantasy is to win. If you can make moves to get NFL assets in devy, you need to consider making those moves. If you ever have any trade assets reach out to me on Twitter.
