As the summer rolls on, there will be a number of players who move up and down the ADP list. This movement can be caused by a variety of factors -- injuries, news, etc. This article will highlight some of the players who have seen significant movement over the last week and place them into one of three categories.
- Players on the Rise
- Players on the Decline
- Players of Note
Players on the Rise
These players have moved up the ADP list in the last week. And there's a pretty good reason for that.
WR Tyreek Hill, Kansas City - up 5 spots to 13 overall
It seemed last week that the rise was about over for Hill. Can he get past the likes of Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and Odell Beckham? Tune in next week and find out.
RB Kerryon Johnson, Detroit - up 6 spots to 30 overall
The Lions had just released Theo Riddick when the ADP was updated last week. This week's movement is still from that transaction.
WR Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati - up 5 spots to 63 overall
Boyd ADP stock is rising as A.J. Green's falls. You'll probably see more of this next week as well.
WR Christian Kirk, Arizona - up 12 spots to 84 overall
Lots of small-ish factors converging here: good press regarding the offense in general, great press regarding how good Kirk looks, and bad press surrounding the rookies not named KeeSean Johnson. All that points to Kirk being the vital cog in a rising offense. That's good for a player's ADP.
RB Austin Ekeler, LA Chargers - up 7 spots to 86 overall
Completely related to Melvin Gordon's continued holdout.
WR Dede Westbrook, Jacksonville - up 9 spots to 100 overall
Someone in Jacksonville has to catch the ball, right? If true, Westbrook is getting all the press right now as most of the reports say he looks like the best receiving option.
WR Curtis Samuel, Carolina - up 11 spots to 114 overall
Nothing be great reports about Samuel's performance thus far in camp. Some of wondered if Samuel is Carolina's best receiver.
WR Keke Coutee, Houston - up 11 spots to 115 overall
Same story as with Samuel. While no one wonders who the best receiver in Houston is, Coutee has reportedly increased his physical fitness and has looked great so far in camp.
WR DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia - up 17 spots to 124 overall
Philadelphia observers say Jackson "looks like his old self" as the former Eagle starts his second stint with the team.
RB Kalen Ballage, Miami - up 27 spots to 126 overall
Despite Kenyan Drake only dropping two spots, Ballage continues to ascend in a big way. Maybe people are believing there is room for both backs in Miami.
RB Justin Jackson, LA Chargers - up 19 spots to 165 overall
With each day Melvin Gordon holds out the interest around Jackson increases.
WR John Brown, Buffalo - up 24 spots to 170 overall
The fantasy community wasn't generally nosing around in the Bills' wide receiver corps until reports came out about how Brown looking like the best pass-catcher on the team. At this stage of the draft, that's worth two rounds of value.
Players on the Decline
These players have moved down the ADP list in the last week. And there's a pretty good reason for that.
RB Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas - down 1 spot to 4 overall
A single spot normally isn't notable. It is when you're in August and talking about a top-five player. Elliott's holdout has already gone on longer than expected, and the other top backs are simply safer right now.
RB Melvin Gordon, LA Chargers - down 6 spots to 19 overall
Repeating from last week: The holdout is still on, and it doesn't look like the end is near.
WR A.J. Green, Cincinnati - down 11 spots to 48 overall
Green went from "could be back in Week 1" to "will miss some regular-season games". And that's why his ADP is free-falling. Unless there is good news later this week, this drop likely isn't over.
RB Darrell Henderson, LA Rams - down 9 spots to 98 overall
What goes up usually comes down. Henderson almost certainly was too high, so some adjustment had to happen.
WR Golden Tate, NY Giants - down 9 spots to 109 overall
The narrative went from "Tate has a decent case against his suspension" to "Tate has very little chance of beating this suspension."
RB Jerick McKinnon, San Francisco - down 18 spots to 128 overall
McKinnon returned to practice after the last ADP update. Until then, his lack of activity clearly spooked the fantasy community.
RB Carlos Hyde, Kansas City - down 11 spots to 140 overall
We're probably going to see some yo-yo action with Hyde. Before the latest ADP update, the word on Hyde was pretty bad. One report even questioned whether he would make the team. Then, just as the ADP was updated, reports came out about how well Hyde was performing while Damien Williams was out with an injury. And now Williams has returned to practice.
Players of Note
These players have moved up or down. But it's not because of much of anything relating to them. As ADP solidifies closer to the NFL season, there will be fewer of these types of players.
TE Hunter Henry, LA Chargers - down 4 spots to 66 overall
This is solely due to Tyler Boyd's ascent and small movements from some other players.
TE Jared Cook, New Orleans - up 4 spots to 71 overall
A couple of related things contributed to this movement, but neither is because Cook's stock has risen. First, Eric Ebron dropped a single spot -- likely because people are slightly more worried about Andrew Luck. Second, instead of a near-even split of the this-guy-is-my-seventh-tight-end love with Ebron, Cook is getting most of it. That little extra bit of love moved Cook ahead of players at other positions thus causing a four-spot bump.
