Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys Single Game Overview
This article is a new feature which will break down the single game slates on DraftKings and FanDuel guiding you which players to play and where to play them.
STRATEGY- CAPTAIN AND MVP POSITIONS
FanDuel-
On FanDuel the pricing of the MVP is the same as if they are not in the MVP position. This limits the strategy as you really want to take the player that you believe is going to score the most points which is often your most expensive player or a player who has the most upside on your roster.
DraftKings-
On DraftKings, the strategy is a little bit more complex as the players are priced at 1.5x their flex position if you play them in the captain position. This creates an intriguing strategy as while the top priced player may score the most points, it often limits you on the rest of your build. Often times, putting in a player who can have a big day but not in the captain spot will allow you to build the rest of your roster with a higher point potential.
PLAYER OVERVIEW-
Ezekiel Elliott- $19,500 DraftKings Captain, $13,000 DraftKings Flex, $6,000 FanDuel
Ezekiel Elliott is both the safest play of this game and the player with the most upside. Although he did struggle in the previous meeting between these two teams, Elliott is on an absolute tear at the moment as over his last two games he is averaging 194 yards from scrimmage including 6.5 receptions per game. The biggest question heading into this game will be whether you are playing Ezekiel Elliott in the captain/MVP spot this week. On FanDuel it is largely a no brainer that unless you want to fade Elliott you should play Elliott in the captain spot. The reality is that there are not enough good options on the lowest projected scoring slate to justify taking another option at this spot. On DraftKings, the decision is whether to pay the $19,500 price tag to fit him into your captain spot. You could definitely choose to do this, but it is a massive price tag that severely limits the rest of your roster build.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel MVP, FanDuel Flex
Colt McCoy-$12,300 DraftKings Captain, $8,200 DraftKings Flex, $14,000 FanDuel
The Redskins are in a tough spot in this game regarding how they will move the ball. The reality is that even though Adrian Peterson had a successful game in the first outing with 99 yards rushing, the Cowboys run defense is very tough unit with great linebacker play in Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith. With the Redskins expected to be behind for a large majority of this game, look for Colt McCoy who is cheap for a quarterback to potentially pay off in a big way. McCoy is a limited quarterback, but his price is cheap enough that you could get some guaranteed points and stacking him with a cheaper receiving option is a nice way to build a lineup this week.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Michael Gallup- $3,600 DraftKings Captain, $2,400 DraftKings Flex, $7,000 FanDuel
Michael Gallup is a tremendous punt option this week as he has one of the more favorable matchups in this game if Quinton Dunbar is out. If Dunbar is out, Gallup will likely matchup against Danny Johnson who in limited snaps allowed 4 catches for 56 yards on 36 snaps and last week in just 18 snaps he gave up 5 catches for 79 yards. Simply put, Johnson is giving up yards every time he touches the field as defenses are going right after him. If you were to punt the DraftKings Captain position and hope that Gallup catches a long pass, this is not a bad option this week.
Usable in: DraftKings Captain, DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Jamison Crowder- $3,900 DraftKings Captain, $2,600 DraftKings Flex, $7,000 FanDuel
If Crowder is active, he is an intriguing player on this slate as he is a guy who is coming off of injury and will be pairing up with a quarterback in Colt McCoy who has limited arm strength frequently targeted Pierre Garcon out of the slot the last time that McCoy was a regular starter. If Crowder is active, he immediately becomes the second best receiving option in Washington behind Jordan Reed and at his price is simply too cheap not to be strongly considered. He may not have the upside to put at the DraftKings captain spot, but would be a great punt play if active.
Usable in: DraftKings Flex, FanDuel Flex
Jordan Reed- $11,400 DraftKings Captain, $7,600 DraftKings Flex, $11,00 FanDuel
Jordan Reed and Colt McCoy have had a connection that dates back to 2014 which was the last time that McCoy was a regular starter. During that time, Reed averaged 7.8 targets per game from McCoy and averaged 6 receptions in those contests. This is a Dallas team that has been susceptible to some big games from tight ends this year including a 14 catch 145 yard and two touchdown performance from Zach Ertz just two weeks ago. Reed was largely shut down in the prior Week 7 meeting, but he does have upside this week in this game.
