Hi Folks,
We do a ton of insightful, thoughtful and serious features here at Footballguys with smart people thinking deeply for you.
This is not one of those features.
This is Random Shots and it's a few pages of me downloading my goofy and dysfunctional mental hard drive that gets stuffed with way too many random items from too many hours watching, reading about and listening to football every weekend and throughout the week. It's the only way I manage. Here's hoping it has some value for you.
We'll see. Now let's get to it.

The City of New Orleans is on pace to have their lowest murder rate in 30 years.
Thank you, Drew Brees.
Thanks to NFL Memes for that one.
Buffalo Bills: Let's go.
I told you a couple of weeks ago Zay Jones is still a wizard.
Phillip Lindsay, I've got my eye on you too...
Leonard Fournette will miss this week's game with a suspension.
Fournette GMs are with @sixersmode here.
I hope your Thanksgiving was this fun.
And I hope your post-dinner family football game went better than it did for this Dad trying to put his son on lock-down.
Thanks to Footballguy Jason Hurwitz for that one.
Music note of the Week is a Random Shots favorite. Dawes is my old comfortable reliable go to. They're not flashy and they won't drop your jaw. They're just good. And "All Your Favorite Bands" is some of their best.
I hope that life without a chaperone is what you thought it’d be
I hope your brother’s El Camino runs forever
I hope the world sees the same person
That you’ve always been to me
And may all your favorite bands stay together
I'm not sure what one could say that's much nicer.
Aditi Kinkhabwala with the NFL Salary Structure in one post:
Thanks to Footballguy Ryan Hester for that one.
The Chargers announced that Sunday's game was a sell-out.
This must have been where the band was sitting and they were getting ready for the halftime show...
Texans and Titans on Monday Night made me think of the Oilers.
And that made me think of Bum Phillips.
And thinking of Bum Phillips always makes me smile.
Thanks to Footballguy Keith Overton for that one.
High School Football Note:
4th and 19 for the State Championship.
This story will be told for decades.
Oh, Tom.
Josh Allen with a sweet throw.
And Robert Foster with the windmill.
Please, Giants let Odell Beckham try a field goal. He'll even use a holder if he has to.
USC is keeping head coach Clay Helton
From the article: "Helton earned a contract extension in February, carrying his deal with the Trojans through 2023. His .653 winning percentage is ninth-best in program history."
Ninth best in program history? Is that necessary? And is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Oakland with the 1-2-3...
Damarious Randall had something for Hue Jackson...
I think this Saquon Barkley guy may have a future in this league...
Chris Carson with the Record Scratch / Freeze Frame.
You have to look closely right in the center of the picture over the official's shoulder.
The video is even better.
I don't know much. But I know the Bills should make their Throwback uniforms their regular uniforms.
This summer, Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey had no shortage of words for Bills QB Josh Allen.
“I think [Buffalo Bills draft pick Josh] Allen is trash. I don’t care what nobody say. He’s trash. And it’s gonna show too. That’s a stupid draft pick to me. We play them this year, and I’m excited as hell. I hope he’s their starting quarterback."
If anyone wondered if he'd changed his opinion since the summer, he answered the question during the game.
Josh Allen is the Captain now...
As usual, The Office has the answer...
To be fair, Ramsey was one of the first Jaguar players to congratulate Allen after the game.
Tyler Lockett's touchdown celebration game is strong.
Iverson stepover in full effect.
Jared Cook, you're kind of ridiculous.
A Polamalu block is always special. Against the Steelers though it's next level.
Baker Mayfield with the awkward post-game "handshake not a hug" for Hue Jackson.
Afterward, Mayfield said he didn't like Jackson going to a rival team.
They say one of the most important traits for a quarterback is a short memory. Usually meaning things like it's best to move on from a bad play. Mayfield's showing All-Pro ability in the memory thing forgetting the transfer to Oklahoma from Texas Tech.
When Mayfield was reminded of the move from Lubbock to Norman, he quickly explained to us: that was different.
Back to Football, it's hard to argue the before and after numbers.
Jackson's giving Jeff Fisher a good run there.
As long as he keeps his game this sharp, things will be just fine.
If you faced Christian McCaffrey this week, you're feeling me here.
And if you needed more evidence this stuff is all interwoven, I give you Matthew Judon.
When you have three sacks on three consecutive plays, you can do whatever you want.
I'm going to call this a sub-optimal second half...
I get it when Alabama Homer Fan says they could beat an NFL Team.
But now we have real NFL players saying they think a Nick Saban coached Alabama team could win multiple games over the course of a season against NFL Teams.
My take:
I appreciate Cordarrelle Patterson doing whatever the coaches ask. But there was a reason he was sorted to the wide receiver group years ago...
Is the "Run the out of position guy least likely to succeed at the goal line" a New England thing?
I guess I'm Old School but I love this from Mike McCarthy.
Soccer coach Diego Maradona with my favorite post-game interview of the week.
Live look in on Bill Belichick watching this:
While I'm on Belichick, Von Miller with a classic post-game presser.
Kirk Cousins doesn't mind playing Green Bay.
Because I've never once thought "I've just got too many Table Tennis videos on Random Shots"...
Trust me, this one is worth the watch.
Rock on, JJ Watt. I'll keep posting these as long as he does them.
Thanks to Footballguy Clayton Gray for that one.
Thank you, Internet. I'm not sure I'd want to live in a world without the Boogermobile.
More Non-Football Life Advice from your Buddy Joe. Buckle up when you Hang Glide. Or maybe better - Don't Hang Glide. Ever.
Kurt Warner understands records are made to be broken. But a ten-year-old record broken twice in one day is wild.
Actually no, I don't need to see any more of Antonio Brown throwing.
And I don't need to see any more of Andrew Luck not throwing.
Colt Fans agree.
The gambler in the crowd is sometimes easy to spot...
Live look in on the Packers sideline.
Thanks to NFL Memes for that one.
I don't know much about Eastern Michigan but I'm so hoping they get a Bowl Bid.
Thanks to Footballguy Devin Knotts for that one.
This Kansas High School coach was not a fan of the Gatorade Bath after winning the State Championship.
My favorite part was Teacher's Pet #20 pushing the guy at the end.
Wrapping with this college football story from Washington.
Last weekend saw a lot of the "Rivalry Games", including the University of Washington at Washington State.
One of the buses carrying the Washington band hit an icy stretch and flipped, sending 47 band members to the hospital. The University of Washington press release said two remained hospitalized Friday with “injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.”
Washington State Marching Band Director Troy Bennefield told The Seattle Times his students wanted to stand in solidarity with their rivals.
So Washington State's band took the field and played the University of Washington fight song, “Bow Down to Washington,” before kickoff.
That's rad.
Thanks to Footballguys Keith Overton, Clayton Gray, David Dodds, Ryan Hester, Jason Hurwitz, and Devin Knotts for the help on this one. If you've got a Random Shot of your own, send me an e-mail at bryant@footballguys.com.
Thanks for playing along and I hope you make the most of whatever you're doing in your life. Love your neighbor and stick together.
Peace and Grace to you.
