During the past three years, Odell Beckham Jr has burst onto the scene as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. Last season, he played all 16 games and finished with career high 101 receptions for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns. Beckham has produced at least 1,300 yards to go along with double-digit touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. The three-time pro bowler is also the fastest player in NFL history to reach 200 receptions in only 30 games. To put it simply, Beckham is the engine that drives the Giants offense. He is one of the few players in the NFL that can single handily win or lose a week for your fantasy team.
The Giants signed Free-agent WR Brandon Marshall to a two-year, $12 million deal during the offseason. Marshall will provide the Giants with another receiving weapon while helping to alleviate some of the defense attention from Beckham The Giants also drafted TE Evan Engram at pick 23 in the first round of the NFL draft.
Second-year head coach, Ben McAdoo is starting to assemble a high-octane offense with the potential to rival anyone else in the NFL. But the question remains, what would happen if Odell Beckham Jr was to suffer a season ending injury?
BUY
Brandon Marshall, WR – Odell Beckham accounted for 169 targets last season, second most in the NFL. If Beckham is lost for the season, the bulk of those targets are headed to newly acquired wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who is no stranger to volume with eight seasons of at least 140 targets. His value will increase from that of a WR3/flex option to that of a high WR2 and low end WR1 in PPR leagues.
Sterling Shepard, WR- Sterling Shepard did not meet the high expectations during his rookie season finishing with 65 receptions for 683 yards and 8 touchdowns. While many would consider those totals respectable for a rookie WR, the cloud of Odell Beckham looms large. If Beckham were to suffer a significant injury, Shepard will become a priority if he is still available on your waiver wire.
HOLD
Paul Perkins, RB and Shane Vereen, RB – Perkins is in line to lead the Giants backfield in touches this season. McAdoo has named Perkins the starter and with a consistent workload he can be productive for fantasy. Without Odell Beckham in the mix, most defenses will shift their attention to the other Giants receiving options. However, Perkins role and the Giants running backs will remained unchanged.
SELL
Eli Manning, QB - Eli Manning disappointed last season finishing as the 22nd-best quarterback in fantasy football. The offensive line struggled and Manning continued to be one of the most inconsistent players in the NFL. Manning is currently being drafted as a backup fantasy QB with an ADP of 111 and QB16. If the Giants were to lose their most consistent wide receiver, Odell Beckham, for the season, Manning’s value would slide even more. He would go from being a backup QB spot starter in fantasy to an emergency fill in.
ADD
Roger Lewis, WR, - Second-year wide receiver, Roger Lewis, is currently in competition for one of the Giants last roster spots at the wide receiver position. The undrafted wide receiver made an impact at Bowling Green in 2015 with 85 receptions for 1,544 yards and 16 touchdowns. He wasn’t in the mix last season with only 7 receptions for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. If Odell Beckham were to suffer a significant injury, Lewis should be added in deep fantasy leagues as he would be in line for more playing time.
