In this weekly DraftKings article, we will discuss two cash game stacks that should provide a high floor for your 50-50 and H2H cash game contests. These stacks are safe to use in your GPP tournaments as well, but they will most likely carry a high ownership percentage. In the second half of this article, we will review some GPP stacks along with one defensive stack.
*This article focuses on stacks from the DraftKings 12-game main slate and does not include the two Saturday games and the two Monday games.
*Motivation is a key factor during the final month of the season. The key is to target teams and players that are still in the playoff hunt. Avoid teams that look to be “going through the motions” and show a lack of effort.
$$ Cash GAME STACKS $$
Dallas Cowboys Stack versus Seattle Seahawks
QB Dak Prescott $6,000 with RB Ezekiel Elliott $8,000 (Cash/GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: WR Dez Bryant $6,000 (GPP)
Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott are severely underpriced on DraftKings. Some will be hesitant to use Elliott in first game since returning from his six-game suspension. Workload should not be an issue as Elliott has at least 25 touches in all but one game this season. The Seahawks defense is a shell of itself after losing Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman for the season. Former Pro Bowler, Bobby Wagner, played with a hamstring injury last week but was mostly ineffective as Todd Gurley ran wild for 180 total yards and four touchdowns.
New England Patriots Stack versus Buffalo Bills
QB Tom Brady $6,900 with TE Rob Gronkowski $7,400 (Cash/GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: RB Dion Lewis $6,000 (GPP)
Correlation Play: RB LeSean McCoy $7,800 (GPP)
After three consecutive road games, the Patriots return to Foxboro with the highest projected team total (29.5 points) of the week. While Vegas still believes in the Patriots, Tom Brady has received a $700 price decrease on DraftKings since last week. Brady has leaned on Rob Gronkowski over his past two games as the tight end has accumulated 18 receptions on 24 targets for 315 yards.
GPP STACKS
Here are some GPP stacks with multi-touchdown upside.
Carolina Panthers Stack versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB Cam Newton $6,800 with TE Greg Olsen $5,200 (GPP)
Alternate/Super Stacks: RB Christian McCaffrey $6,400 (GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Mike Evans $6,400 (GPP)
Cam Newton will be one of the most popular options at quarterback after passing for four touchdowns last week against the Packers. Greg Olsen finally looked healthy after his foot injury as he finished with nine receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown. The Buccaneers have struggled mightily against the pass ranking last in the league.
Kansas City Stack versus Miami Dolphins
QB Alex Smith $6,600 with TE Travis Kelce $6,900 (GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: WR Tyreek Hill $6,500 (GPP)
Correlation Play: RB Kenyan Drake $7,100 (GPP) or WR Jarvis Landry $6,300 (GPP)
After struggling to generate offense throughout the middle of the season, the Chiefs have found new life averaging 29 points over their past three games. Alex Smith has flashed GPP winning upside at times this season with four touchdowns against the Patriots and Jets. Travis Kelce is the preferred stacking option as the Dolphins have allowed the seventh most yards (828) to opposing tight ends this season.
New Orleans Saints Stack versus Atlanta Falcons
QB Drew Brees $6,500 with WR Michael Thomas $7,600 (GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: RB Alvin Kamara $8,300 (GPP)
Most of the attention in New Orleans is on the Saints fierce rushing attack. Michael Thomas has quietly emerged as a superstar wide receiver with 94 receptions on 136 targets for 1085 yards and five touchdowns. When the Saints last played the Falcons two weeks ago, Michael Thomas had his best game of the season with ten receptions for 117 yards and one touchdown. Stacking Drew Brees with Thomas has the potential to pay huge dividends if this game turns into a shootout.
Los Angeles Rams Stack at Tennessee Titans
QB Jared Goff $6,100 with WR Robert Woods $6,500 (GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: RB Todd Gurley $9,100 (GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Rishard Matthews $5,100 (GPP)
Similar to the Saints, all of the attention for the Rams is on Todd Gurley. Jared Goff continues to go under-owned each week. FootballGuys expert Steve Buzzard projects Goff with a 5% ownership rate. The Rams offense has been electric averaging an NFL best 31.3 points per game. Don’t sleep on the Rams passing attack in this matchup. The Titans defense has held up much better versus the run (3rd best) as compared to the pass (8th worst) this season. Goff has multiple touchdowns in six of his past seven games and has flashed GPP-winning upside with four touchdowns against the Giants and three touchdowns versus the 49ers and Texans. Robert Woods has emerged as the Rams top receiving option with five touchdowns in his past four games.
DEFENSIVE STACKS (GPP Tournaments)
Los Angeles Chargers Stack at New York Jets
RB Melvin Gordon $7,200 with D/ST Chargers $3,700 (GPP)
Melvin Gordon has a pristine matchup against the Jets, who have allowed an average of 30 points over their past four games. Gordon is quietly having a solid season with 1,329 total yards and 11 touchdowns. Gordon has at least 20 touches in each of his past six games. The Chargers pressure defense should wreak havoc against Jets quarterback Bryce Petty, who threw two interceptions last week.
