In this weekly DraftKings article, we will discuss two cash game stacks that should provide a high floor for your 50-50 and H2H cash game contests. These stacks are safe to use in your GPP tournaments as well, but they will most likely carry a high ownership percentage. In the second half of this article, we will review some GPP stacks along with two defensive stacks.
*This article focuses on stacks from the DraftKings 13-game main slate and does not include Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, or Monday Night Football.
*Motivation is a key factor during the final month of the season. The key is to target teams and players that are still in the playoff hunt. Avoid teams that look to be “going through the motions” and show a lack of effort.
$$ Cash GAME STACKS $$
Kansas City Chiefs Stack versus Oakland Raiders
QB Alex Smith $6,500 with TE Tyreek Hill $7,100 (Cash/GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: WR Travis Kelce $7,400 (Cash/GPP)
After exploding for 366 passing yards and four touchdowns, Alex Smith and the Chiefs playmakers will be popular options this week against the abysmal Raiders defense. When these teams last met during Week 7, Alex Smith finished with 342 passing yards and four total touchdowns. The Raiders defense is allowing a league-worst 108.2 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks. Should you stack Smith with Travis Kelce or Tyreek Hill? That is the million-dollar question. Since the Chiefs Week 10 bye, Hill has been more consistent with at least six receptions in each of the past three games.
Los Angeles Chargers Stack versus Washington Redskins
QB Philip Rivers $6,800 with WR Keenan Allen $8,300 (Cash/GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: RB Melvin Gordon $7,800 (Cash/GPP) or TE Hunter Henry $4,600 (GPP Only)
The Chargers and Redskins are two teams that are headed in opposite directions. The Chargers have won three consecutive games while the Redskins are on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention. Keenan Allen has been “white-hot” setting an NFL record as the first player to finish with at least ten receptions, 100 receiving yards, and one touchdown over three consecutive weeks. Expect the Chargers to continue to feed Allen with the “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” mindset.
GPP STACKS
Here are some GPP stacks with multi-touchdown upside.
Philadelphia Eagles Stack at Los Angeles Rams
QB Carson Wentz $7,100 with TE Trey Burton $2,900 (GPP)
Alternate/Super Stacks: WR Alshon Jefferey $6,300 (GPP)
Correlation Play: RB Todd Gurley $8,100 (GPP)
Keep an eye on the injury report as Zach Ertz’s playing status is in doubt this week. Trey Burton is underpriced on DraftKings and will be a very popular option is Ertz is ruled out early. The last time Ertz was inactive, Burton finished with two receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown. Alshon Jefferey makes for an interesting differentiation stack for GPP tournaments.
Cleveland Browns Stack versus Green Bay Packers
QB DeShone Kizer $4,900 with WR Josh Gordon $5,500 (GPP)
Alternative/Super Stacks: WR Corey Coleman $4,100 (GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Davante Adams $6,600 (GPP)
In his first game since 2014, Josh Gordon led the Browns with a team-high 11 targets. He is severely underpriced on DraftKings and will likely be the most popular wide receiver. The Packers have struggled as they are currently ranked as the seventh-worst pass defense. Stacking Gordon with DeShone Kizer leaves you with an average salary of $5,657 per player and plenty of flexibility with filling out the remainder of your roster.
San Francisco 49ers Stack at Houston Texans
QB Jimmy Garoppolo $5,500 with WR Marquise Goodwin $5,100 (GPP)
Correlation Play: WR DeAndre Hopkins $8,500 (GPP)
Another affordable stack is pairing Jimmy Garoppolo with Marquise Goodwin. Garoppolo was efficient completing 26 passes on 37 attempts during his first start with the 49ers. Goodwin is quietly emerging as the top receiving option as he has finished with at least six targets in three of his past four games. The Texans defense has been torched by wide receivers such as T.Y. Hilton and Robert Woods this season.
DEFENSIVE STACKS (Cash/GPP Tournaments)
There is one defensive stack that stands out this week.
Cincinnati Bengals Stack versus Chicago Bears
RB Giovani Bernard $3,100 with D/ST Bengals $3,300 (CASH/GPP)
Bengals rookie running back, Joe Mixon, suffered a concussion on Monday Night Football and is unlikely to clear concussion protocol prior to this Sunday. If Mixon is inactive, Giovani Bernard will most definitely be the most popular running back option on DraftKings. Pairing Bernard with the Bengals defense will be the starting stack in many cash game builds. In his first eight career starts, Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has passed for over 180 yards just once. The team may start to give him a longer leash and put him in more high-pressure situations.
Buffalo Bills Stack versus Indianapolis Colts
RB LeSean McCoy $7,200 with D/ST Bills $3,100 (GPP)
The 6-6 Buffalo Bills will be playing for their playoff lives this week. Another loss will make it difficult for them to make the postseason without help. Tyrod Taylor is currently considered day-to-day and there is a legitimate chance that he may miss this Sunday. Whether Taylor plays or not, expect the Bills to lean heavily on LeSean McCoy in this matchup.
