FAT STACK$ ($$ Cash GAME STACKS $$)
New Orleans Saints Stack vs Detroit Lions
QB Drew Brees $7,600 with WR Michael Thomas $6,900 (Cash Games or GPP)
Hopefully you followed last week’s recommendation of stacking Drew Brees with Michael Thomas. We are going right back to the well again this week! The difference between last week and this week is that Brees will be the chalk option at QB vs. the visiting Lions. Brees has dominated at home not only this season but throughout his career. This season, Brees is averaging 357.0 passing yards/per game in the Superdome as compared to 289 passing yards/per game on the road. Over his career, Brees has 270 TDs at home as compared to 189 TDs on the road. Don’t let anyone persuade you that home splits are not important as these numbers are over a 229-game sample size. The Saints/Lions game has the largest total of the week at a staggering 53.5 points. Thomas is once again the preferred option to pair with Brees. Thomas is not your typical rookie as he has amassed 65 receptions for 789 yards and 7 touchdowns through 11 games. He will find himself matched up against Lions CB Nevin Lawson. That is a matchup that Thomas will win all day.
Atlanta Falcons Stack vs Kansas City Chiefs
QB Matt Ryan $6,800 with WR Julio Jones $8,700 and/or Mohamed Sanu $4,400 (Cash Games or GPP)
The Falcons/Chiefs line jumped out with a projected total of 49 points. Vegas does not expect the Chiefs defense to slow down the Falcons this week. The Chiefs defense has allowed 20 passing touchdowns thus far this season and should allow a few more in this matchup. Matt Ryan has been consistent this season passing for multiple touchdowns in 8 out of 11 games. Julio Jones will be one of the most popular WR options on the slate. Jones has 1,140 receiving yards thus far with only 5 touchdowns. Jones is in-line for some positive touchdown regression. Expect the Falcons to move Jones around to get him off Marcus Peters coverage. Mohamed Sanu is an under-the-radar option for the Falcons this week. Sanu will find himself in a prime matchup against Chiefs CB Philip Gaines. If you are looking to save salary, Sanu is a great WR option at a DraftKings salary of only $4,400.
A DOLLAR AND A DREAM (GPP STACKS)
Here are some GPP stacks that should carry a low ownership percentage but provide multi-touchdown upside.
New York Giants Stack at Pittsburgh Steelers
QB Eli Manning $5,900 with WR Odell Beckham Jr $8,500 (GPP)
Correlation Play: RB LeVeon Bell $9,200
The Giants are 6-point road underdogs at Pittsburgh. The last time the Steelers played an NFC East team at home, the Cowboys won in a shootout 35-30. Expect the scoreboard to be busy again this Sunday as Vegas has projected a game total of 48 points. The 8-3 Giants enter the game riding high on a 6-game winning streak. Eli Manning has passed for multiple-touchdowns in 5 out of those 6 victories. Manning gets no respect as DraftKings has him as the 15th most expensive QB at a mere $5,900. Odell Beckham Jr is the preferred stacking option as he has the potential to be the top fantasy WR every time he steps on the field. Beckham has bounced back from his early season struggles as he has amassed 65 receptions for 915 yards with 8 touchdowns thus far. Beckham will also find himself in a plus individual matchup against Steelers rookie CB Artie Burns. For a correlation play, roster LeVeon Bell on the other side. Bell is a must play in PPR leagues as he is averaging 7.1 receptions/per game. If you are building multiple lineups this week, make sure to have some exposure to this game.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Diego Chargers
QB Jameis Winston $6,200 with WR Mike Evans $8,600 (GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Dontrelle Inman $5,200
The Bucs are 3.5-point road underdogs at San Diego. Most will gravitate toward Philip Rivers in a home game but the other team has more GPP appeal. The Chargers have allowed the 9th most passing yards (2,984) in the NFL. Jameis Winston has shown improvements during his second season as a starting QB. Winston has multiple-passing touchdowns in 5 out of his past 6 games. And Winston only has eyes for Mike Evans, who has amassed an NFL leading 132 targets this season. Thus far, Evans has 73 receptions for 1,020 yards and 10 touchdowns. Expect those totals to increase this week as Evans has a prime individual matchup against Chargers CB Brandon Flowers. The 6’5” Evans will be able to out-position the smaller 5’9” Flowers. If Tyrell Williams is inactive, Dontrelle Inman makes for a fabulous correlation play against the Bucs.
Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints
QB Matthew Stafford $7,000 with RB Theo Riddick $5,800 (GPP)
Correlation Play: Michael Thomas $6,900
Let’s go back to where we started this article, the Shootout in the Superdome! With the Browns and Titans on bye, the Saints defense is the next team to target against. Game flow projects that the Lions will be playing from behind during the 2nd half this Sunday. That can only be a positive for Matthew Stafford and the Lions passing attack. Stafford has been inconsistent this season but a matchup against the Saints defense should be just what the doctor ordered! The Saints defense has allowed the 8th most passing yards (2,985) in the NFL this season. Lions RB Theo Riddick will see a lot of check-down options while racking up the short receptions. Riddick has GPP winning upside if he can find the end zone. Riddick has 3 games this season where he has paid dividends with 27.3, 26.2 and 27.8 DraftKings fantasy points. For a correlation play, stack up Michael Thomas on the other side against the Lions.
