In this weekly DraftKings article, we will discuss some FAT STACKS (Cash Game Stacks) that should provide a high floor for your 50-50 and H2H cash game contests. These stacks are safe to use in your GPP tournaments as well, but they may carry a high ownership percentage. In the second half of this article, it’s all about A Dollar and a Dream! DraftKings is going back to their $27, $4 Million Guarantee with a life-changing $1 million first place prize!
FAT STACK$ ($$ Cash GAME STACKS $$)
New England Patriots Stack at San Francisco 49ers
RB LeGarrette Blount $6,400 with TE Martellus Bennett $3700 (Cash Games or GPP)
QB Tom Brady $7,800 with WR Julian Edelman $6,300 and TE Martellus Bennett (GPP)
LeGarrette Blount will be the chalk this Sunday. The Patriots are 13-point road favorites with the largest projected team total (31.75 points) of the weekend. The Patriots are expected to light up the scoreboard and Blount is the most likely option to do so. The 49ers have allowed a whopping 180.4 rushing yards/per game and 5.1 yards/per attempt. To put those numbers in perspective, the 2nd-worst team, the Browns, are allowing 143.7 rushing yards/per game. Note to self, start any RB against the 49ers moving forward. Blount has 3 multiple TDs games including 3 TDs vs. the Seahawks last week. Rob Gronkowski suffered a chest injury and is expected to be inactive. Enter an underpriced Martellus Bennett with a prime matchup. At a DraftKings salary of only $3700, Bennett is a must play in your cash games this week. While the field will be on Blount this week, many will be hesitant to roster Blount and Brady in the same lineup. While that is a worthwhile strategy, stacking Brady in a super-stack with Julian Edelman and Bennett could provide GPP winning upside. Edelman has quietly led the Patriots in targets this season and is due for a breakout game.
Washington Redskins vs. Green Bay Packers
QB Kirk Cousins $5,800 with TE Jordan Reed $5,900 (Cash Games or GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Jordy Nelson $7,800
If you prefer to spend down at the QB positon, Kirk Cousins is you’re guy this weekend. Cousins is underpriced with a DraftKings salary of only $5,800 in a home matchup vs. the Green Bay Packers. Do you like that? Well, you should cause this is the same Packers defense that allowed 295 passing yards and 4 TDs to Marcus Mariota last weekend. Cousins has been consistent with multiple-touchdowns in 3 of his past 4 games. Jordan Reed may fly under the radar this week as many pay down for Martellus Bennett. Reed is due for some positive regression as he has zero 100-yard games this season and only 3 TDs. Expect Reed to break-out in a big way this Sunday. The Packers defense has been swiss-cheese vs. the TE position lately. Last week, Delanie Walker ate them up with 9 receptions for 124 yards and 1 touchdown. For a correlation play, consider Jordy Nelson, who has been on red-hot for the Packers.
Indianapolis Colts Stack vs. Tennessee Titans
QB Andrew Luck $7,200 with WR T.Y. Hilton (Cash Games or GPP)
Correlation Play: WR Rishard Matthews $5,100
When these teams met in Week 7, the Colts won a shootout 34-26. Expect more of the same this Sunday as neither team has been playing much defense this season. Over the past 4 weeks, the Titans have allowed the most fantasy points/per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Colts are 3-point home favorites with the 3rd highest projected team total on Sunday at 27.75 points. They are rested after a bye week and in dire need of another win to keep pace in the AFC South. Once the Colts built a lead vs. the Packers in Week 9, Luck didn’t have to air it out as much during the 2nd half. Prior to the Packers game, Luck had multiple touchdowns in 4 out of his past 5 games. When these teams squared off in Week 7, T.Y. Hilton made an impact with 7 receptions for 133 yards and 1 touchdown. Hilton has big-play upside evidenced by his 15.2 average yards/per reception. The only other WR that has a higher average yards/per reception with at least 75 targets this season is Julio Jones. If the game turns into another shootout, you will need a correlating play from the Titans. Rishard Matthews has been a pleasant surprise with 4 touchdowns over the past 3 weeks.
A DollaR and A DREAM (GPP STACKS)
Here are some GPP stacks that should carry a low ownership percentage but provide multi-touchdown upside.
Green Bay Packers Stack at Washington Redskins
QB Aaron Rodgers $7,600 with WR Jordy Nelson $7,800
Correlation Play: Jordan Reed $5,900
All Aaron Rodgers does is throw touchdowns. Rodgers has 7 multiple-touchdown performances over his first 9 games this season. Over the past 4 weeks, Rodgers has 12 touchdowns with 3 interceptions. He has tried to put the team on his back even though they have lost 4 of their past 5 games. That is what the lack of balance with a running game and a suspect defense will do to a team. Jordy Nelson is back to being the main option in the passing game. Over the past 3 weeks, Nelson has 23 receptions on 40 targets for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns. If the game turns into a shootout, you will want to have some exposure to Jordan Reed with your Packers stack. Reed should be low owned while many people pay down at TE for Martellus Bennett.
Detroit Lions Stack vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
QB Matthew Stafford $6,600 with WR Golden Tate $5,300
Correlation Play: WR Allen Robinson $7,400
The Detroit Lions may fly under the radar this weekend. Many will rush to more attractive matchups such as Indianapolis/Tennessee or Green Bay/Washington. If those games disappoint, a Lions stack could be in a prime position in DFS. Vegas has the Lions as 6.5 point home favorites with the 4th highest projected team total on Sunday at 26.75 points. Matthew Stafford has GPP winning upside as he has four games this season with at least 3 touchdowns. Golden Tate has found his swagger over the past month with at least 9 targets in each game. Over the past four weeks, Tate has amassed 32 receptions on 43 targets for 379 yards and 2 touchdowns. For a correlation play, consider Allen Robinson if the game turns into a shootout. Robinson has struggled this season but has bounced back over the past few weeks. Robinson is still receiving plenty of targets (40 targets over the past 3 games) and has the potential for a monster stat line.
Seattle Seahawks Stack vs. Philadelphia Eagles
QB Russell Wilson $6,100 with WR Doug Baldwin $5,700
Correlation Play: Jordan Matthews $5,400
Do you remember Russell Wilson over the second half of last season? Last week’s victory over the Patriots should be a wake-up call that Wilson is healthy and ready to put another aerial assault on the NFL. Wilson has 3 touchdowns in each of his past two games. The Seahawks return home where they are a 6.5 point favorite with a 25.5 projected team total. Having played on Monday Night Football, Wilson gets the benefit of not getting a DraftKings salary bump. Doug Baldwin found the end zone 3 times against the Patriots on Monday night. Baldwin is a streaky receiver as evidenced by Weeks 12-15 last season when he had multiple-touchdowns in every game. For a correlation play, consider Jordan Matthews, who should find success out of the slot against the Seahawks.
