In this weekly DraftKings article, we will discuss some FAT STACKS (Cash Game Stacks) that should provide a high floor for your 50-50 and H2H cash game contests. These stacks are safe to use in your GPP tournaments as well, but they may carry a high ownership percentage. In the second half of this article, it’s all about A Dollar and a Dream. DraftKings will be crowning another Fantasy Football Millionaire this weekend! For just a $20 entry, you have an opportunity to win some life changing money!
FAT STACK$ ($$ Cash GAME STACKS $$)
Pittsburgh Steelers Stack vs. Cincinatti Bengals
RB DeAngelo Williams $7,100 with WR Antonio Brown $9900
Until Le’Veon Bell returns in Week 4, the PittsburghSteelers offense will continue to run through Antonio Brown. This past Monday, the Washington Redskins had no answer for Brown. The Steelers often moved Brown to the opposite side away from Josh Norman, so they could take advantage of the favorable matchup against CB Bashaud Breeland. Many will stack Brown with Ben Roethlisberger but don’t forget about DeAngelo Williams as he truly has a nose for the end zone! The Steelers rushing attack was in top form last week as Williams rushed for 143 yards with 2 touchdowns. Williams received a hefty 35 touches and looked explosive grinding first downs. Over the past 2 seasons in 10 games without Bell, Williams has accounted for 13 rushing touchdowns. Williams rushing style is a great fit for the Steelers offense, especially in the red zone.
New York Giants Stack vs. New Orleans Saints
QB Eli Manning $7,600 with RB Rashad Jennings $5,600
The New York Giants offense will be the chalk stack this week. Most will target an Eli Manning-Odell Beckham stack but to effectively lock up all of the Giants points, a Manning-Rashad Jennings stack is the sharp play. Manning is one of the top cash game QBs this week due to his extremely high floor. With the return of Victor Cruz along with the addition of rookie Sterling Shepard, Manning now has multiple options in the passing game. Consider the New Orleans Saints defense as a fantasy buffet of points and Manning is first in line and ready to eat! Manning will be able to choose whichever entrée he desires with the abundance of talent that the Giants have on offense. With the loss of CB Delvin Breaux, the Saints defense went from bad to worse. It has been well documented how historically bad the Saints defense was last season allowing an NFL record 45 passing touchdowns. Notice…the Saints are also terrible at stopping the run! Last week vs. the Oakland Raiders, the Saints allowed 3 rushing touchdowns. There is no doubt that the Giants will have little resistance with moving the chains this Sunday. Jennings will receive the bulk of the rushing opportunities while in the red zone. Targeting the Saints defense will be a fixture in this weekly column until further notice.
Denver Broncos Stack vs. Indianapolis Colts
QB Trevor Siemian $5,200 with RB C.J. Anderson 6800
Similar to the Saints, targeting the Colts defense will be a fixture in this weekly column until further notice. Due to injuries, the Indianapolis Colts defense is a train wreck. Last week, Matthew Stafford was very efficient passing for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns with a 79.4 completion percentage. Some may shy away from Trevor Siemian due to lack of experience but he will be in a prime spot and comes with an extreme discount of a $5,200 DraftKings salary. Targeting Siemian allows you the flexibility to afford expensive high price superstars, such as Antonio Brown. Rather than pairing Siemian with one of his WRs, the most efficient means to capture all of the Broncos points is to stack him with C.J. Anderson. With an improved offensive line, the Broncos offense will run through Anderson this season. Last week vs the Carolina Panthers, Anderson could not be contained as he posted 139 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Look for more of the same this Sunday when the Colts no-name defense comes to town.
A Dollar and A DREAM (GPP STACKS)
Here are some GPP stacks that should carry a low ownership percentage but provide multi-touchdown upside.
Carolina Panthers Stack vs. San Francisco 49ers
QB Cam Newton $7,900 with WR Kelvin Benjamin $6,500
The Carolina Panthers enter week 2 as the largest favorite on the board at -13.5 with the largest expected team total at 29.5 points. Some will shy away from rostering Cam Newton due to the anticipated blowout and the expectation that the Panthers will be running out the clock during the second half. In the famous words of ESPN’s College GameDay legend, Lee Corso, “Not So Fast My Friend!” If the Panthers are on the positive side of a blowout it will most likely be due to a huge performance from Cam Newton. The Panthers offense runs through Newton both in the air and on the ground. No quarterback in NFL history has the same impact for a rushing TD, when the Panthers are near the goal line. Kelvin Benjamin returned to action last week as Newton’s go-to receiving option. Benjamin posted 6 receptions for 91 yards and 1 touchdown accounting for 36% of Newton’s passing targets (12 targeted passes on 33 attempts). There is no denying that Benjamin is a target monster when healthy. A Newton-Benjamin stack should carry low ownership with an extremely high ceiling.
Oakland Raiders Stack vs. Atlanta Falcons
QB Derek Carr $7,200 with WR Amari Cooper $7,600
Correlation Play: WR Julio Jones $9,200
Both Derek Carr and Amari Cooper received a small bump in their respective DraftKings salaries due to the befit of playing the New Orleans Saints last week. A healthy Cooper was the go-to target for Derek Carr last week. Cooper had 6 receptions on 11 targets for 137 yards. For the Raiders home opener this week, they come in as the favorite with a high game total of 49.5 total points vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Jameis Winston torched the Falcons defense last week passing for 4 touchdowns. Look for the Carr to lean on Cooper again this week in another high scoring Raiders game. On the other side of the field, Matt Ryan will be forced to air it out to keep up with the scoring. Consider using Julio Jones as a correlation play with your Raiders Stack in GPP tournaments. If the game shoots-out as both of these teams did last week, Cooper and Jones will be the 2 major beneficiaries.
Arizona Cardinals Stack vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB Carson Palmer $6,900 with WR David Johnson $7,600
Alternative Stacks: QB Carson Palmer $6,900 with WR Larry Fitzgerald $6,400 or WR Michael Floyd $5,900
Correlation Play: WR Mike Evans $7,200
Vegas has the Arizona Cardinals with the second highest game total of the week at 50 points. All of the fantasy buzz is on the New York Giants/New Orleans Saints matchup, but don’t forget about the Cardinals! Last week, the New England Patriots defensive gurus were able to scheme to take away John Brown and the deep passing game. Carson Palmer was held to 7.2 yards per pass attempt. Don’t expect the same this Sunday vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last week, the Buccaneers allowed 334 passing yards to Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons passing game. Palmer with RB David Johnson is the preferred stacking option which will provide you with the majority of the Cardinals TDs. Also, consider stacking Palmer with either Larry Fitzgerald or Michael Floyd as both receivers have the potential for a multiple-TD performance in this matchup. Mike Evans makes for a strong GPP Correlation Play with hope that the game will turn into a shoot-out.
