In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
Chalk Stacks
New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts, Team Total 31.5 points
QB Tom Brady $8,100-WR Julian Edelman $7,600 Total Stack $15,700 (31.4% of salary)
QB Tom Brady $8,100-TE Rob Gronkowski $7,600 Total Stack $15,700 (31.4% of salary)
New England is a 8 point road favorite over Indianapolis. The game total of 55 points is the highest that we have seen this season. This is the first meeting since last season's controversial AFC Championship Game. Brady and Belicheck will be out to make a statement on national television on Sunday Night football. Brady is the highest priced quarterback on DraftKings and should be well worth the salary this week. Edelman's price has risen $600 and now is the fifth highest priced wide receiver. He will continue to be high owned due to his PPR value and regency bias. Gronkowski is the same price as Edelman but sits $2,100 higher than the next tight end, Greg Olsen. Both Gronkowski and Edelman have multi-touchdown upside in this matchup. If you are playing multiple DraftKings GPPs, it is wise to have some shares of the New England offense this week.
Cincinatti Bengals at Buffalo Bills, Team Total 23.75 points
QB Andy Dalton $5,700-WR A.J. Green $7,600 Total Stack $13,300 (26.6% of salary)
QB Andy Dalton $5,700-TE Tyler Eifert $4,900 Total Stack $10,600 (21.2% of salary)
Cincinatti is a 3.5 road favorite in Buffalo. The game total in the game is lower than most at 44 points. Dalton is the 14th highest priced quarterback. The reason Andy Dalton will be popular is because his DraftKings price is a steal when you factor his performances thus far this season. Many will stack Dalton with either Green or Eifert and expect the Cincinatti offensive machine to keep on rolling. Buffalo's defense at home worries me enough that I will be looking at other stacks for my DraftKings GPPs.
San Diego Chargers at Green Bay Packers Team Total 20 points
QB Philip Rivers $6,300-WR Keenan Allen $7,600 Total Stack $13,900 (27.8% of salary)
QB Philip Rivers $6,300-TE Antonio Gates $4,600 Total Stack $10,900 (21.8% of salary)
San Diego is a 10 point road underdog in Green Bay. This game is tied for the second highest game total of the week at 50 points. Because San Diego played on Monday night, they did not receive a price bump from DraftKings. Similar to Dalton, Rivers is severely under-priced on DraftKings as compared to his statistics this season. If the game script plays out where Green Bay gets out to an early lead, Rivers will be passing a lot in the second half. Rivers has a history of playing better at home and for that reason I will look at other options for my DraftKings GPP stacks.
Under the Radar Stacks
This week the under the radar stacks will have a higher ownership percentage than most weeks. However, due to the large number of people on New England, they will be lower owned than they should be.
Green Bay Packers vs. San Diego Chargers, Team Total 30 points
QB Aaron Rodgers $7,700-WR Randall Cobb $7,300 Total Stack $15,000 (30% of salary)
QB Aaron Rodgers $7,700-WR James Jones $5,800 Total Stack $13,500 (27% of salary)
Green Bay is a 10 point favorite at home vs. San Diego. This game is tied for the second highest game total of the week at 50 points. Aaron Rodgers is the second highest priced DraftKings quarterback this week. Green Bay's is a great pivot from the New England offense. San Diego is coming off a short week after a heartbreaking loss on Monday Night Football. Cobb's reception totals have dipped a bit over the past two weeks. Many will ignore Cobb and pay up an additional $300-$400 for Julian Edelman/DeAndre Hopkins or drop down $300 to Larry Fitzgerald. San Diego is listed as the #1 opponent rank on DraftKings. That along with a questionable tag for Cobb and Jones will keep their ownership percentages down. This is a great week to target a Packers stack for your DraftKings GPPs.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants, Team Total 27 points
QB Sam Bradford $6,000-WR Jordan Matthews $6,200 Total Stack $12,200 (24.4% of salary)
Philadelphia is a 4 point home favorite on Monday Night Football vs. the New York Giants. This game is tied for the second highest total of the week at 50 points. The game will be in the spotlight on national television and I agree with Vegas that we are likely to see a shoot-out. A higher percentage of people will be on a Eli Manning-Odell Beckham Jr stack due to regency bias from last Sunday night's win vs. San Francisco. Philadelphia's offense is still not trusted in the fantasy community. Many are skeptical of Bradford and are not sure which receiver to stack with him. I still trust in Chip Kelly's offense and believe Jordan Matthews is due for a breakout game.
Arizona Cardinals at Pittsburgh Steelers, Team Total 24 points
QB Carson Palmer $6,600-WR Larry Fitzgerald $7,000 Total Stack $13,600 (27.2% of salary)
QB Carson Palmer $6,600-WR John Brown $5,200 Total Stack $11,800 (23.6% of salary)
Arizona is a 3.5 point road favorite at Pittsburgh. The game total is lower than I expected at 44.5 points. All the narratives are in play for this game. Pittsburgh is coming off an emotional win on Monday night football. Bruce Arians will be out for revenge after how he was forced into retirement by the Steelers after the 2011 season. Larry Fitzgerald is coming back to where he played his college ball at PITT. Fitzgerald will have a higher ownership percentage as compared to John Brown, but both have multi-touchdown upside in this matchup. Arizona's offense is in a good spot in this game.
