In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
Chalk Stacks
In Week 2, the chalk stacks look like they will come from the only two games that have game totals over 50 points. These games are Philadelphia vs. Dallas (55 points) and New York Giants vs. Atlanta (51.5 points).
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, Team Total 24.75 points
QB Tony Romo $7,100-WR Terrence Williams $4,200 Total Stack $11,300 (22.6% of salary)
A Romo/Williams stack will be the most popular option in Week 2. This is due to Dez Bryant being out and Williams price tag not reflecting his projected workload. If you are thinking of differentiating your stack, look elsewhere.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys, Team Total 30.75
QB Sam Bradford $6,900-WR Jordan Matthews $7,100 Total Stack $14,000 (28% of salary)
The Eagles salaries didn't change due to contests being released before their Monday night game. Sam Bradford's salary still does not reflect his value in Chip Kelly's offensive system. The Eagles have the highest projected team total this week at 30.75 points. Jordan Matthews looks to be the Eagles #1 WR. He finished Week 1 with a game high 10 receptions for 102 yards. This stack leaves you with a manageable $5,142 average remaining/player. If you prefer a lower owned Eagles stack, pair Bradford with Nelson Agholor. Many will be down on Agholor due to his poor Week 1.
New York Giants vs. Atlanta Falcons, Team Total 26.5 points
QB Eli Manning $7,100-WR Odell Beckham Jr $8,800 Total Stack $15,900 (31.8% of salary)
Vegas is expecting a bounce back game from Eli Manning and the Giants offense this week. Tom Coughlin wants to see the ball thrown down the field more. As long as the Giants offensive line can provide Manning with time, Odell Beckham Jr should feast. Some may be down on Beckham due to his poor Week 1 and his matchup with Atlanta CB Desmond Trufant . This should help keep his ownership percentage lower than normal. This is an expensive stack leaving you with only $4,871 average remaining/player. If you have some value plays that you like then this stack is an option.
Atlanta Falcons @ New York Giants, Team Total 24.5 points
QB Matt Ryan $7,400-WR Julio Jones $8,900 Total Stack $16,300 (32.6% of salary)
A Matt Ryan/Julio Jones stack will be popular due to their performance this past Monday vs. the Eagles. While Jones has multi-TD upside, I prefer the other side of the matchup. Beckham is in the same price range and will be less owned.
New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Bucs, Team Total 29 points
QB Drew Brees $7,800-WR Brandin Cooks $7,000 Total Stack $14,800 (29.6% of salary)
New Orleans has the second highest projected team total this week. Brandin Cooks gets a boost from DraftKings PPR format. Kendall Wright had a great day last week vs. the Bucs secondary. A Brees/Cooks stack leaves you with a manageable $5,028 average remaining/player.
Under the Radar Stacks
When analyzing the Week 2 Vegas lines, I was surprised to see the Green Bay vs. Seattle Seahawks line at 49 points. Vegas expects these teams to shoot out on Sunday night. While many will be targeting the Philadelphia/Dallas and New York/Atlanta games, this game provides a high scoring GPP pivot.
Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks , Team Total 26.25 points
QB Aaron Rodgers $8,300-WR James Jones $4,700 Total Stack $13,000 (26% of salary)
During last season's Green Bay/Seattle game, Richard Sherman stayed on the left side of the field and Green Bay took advantage. Aaron Rodgers avoided throwing in his direction moving Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson to the other side of the field. That will not be the case this week as Sherman is planning on shadowing Randall Cobb. If you didn't notice last week, James Jones is back in the Green Bay offense. Rodgers looked his way during many key situations. A Rodgers/Jones stack provides you with a healthy $5,285 average remaining/player.
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers, Team Total 22.25 points
QB Russell Wilson $7,300-TE Jimmy Graham $5,800 Total Stack $13,100 (26.2% of salary)
Russell Wilson may be overlooked this week due to other high profile QBs being in good matchups. Wilson and Jimmy Graham have potential for multiple touchdowns in this matchup. Graham is the red zone target in what Vegas expects to be a high scoring game. Last season, Green Bay allowed the fifth most rushing yards to quarterbacks. A Wilson/Graham stack gives you the flexibility of $5,271 average remaining/player. It also locks up your TE position so you can target the RB/WRs that you prefer.
Cincinatti Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers, Team Total 25 points
QB Andy Dalton $5,800-WR A.J. Green $7,500 Total Stack $13,300 (26.6% of salary)
The Vegas total for this game has risen from 45.5 points and currently sits at 47 points. The Bengals offense was firing on all cylinders last week at Oakland. Many will be rushing to get the "flavor of the week" Tyler Eifert into their lineups. Don't be a week late to the party! A.J. Green is still the go-to receiver in the Bengals offense. Andy Dalton $5,800 salary is too low as he is the 22nd ranked DraftKings QB this week. A Dalton/Green stack leaves you with $5,242 average remaining/per player.
