In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
CHALK STACKS
Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens, Team Total 28.75 points
QB Ben Roethlisberger $6,800-WR Antonio Brown $9,300 Total Stack $16,100 (32.2% of salary)
QB Ben Roethlisberger $6,800-WR Martavis Bryant $5,600 Total Stack $12,400 (24.8% of salary)
QB Ben Roethlisberger $6,800-WR Markus Wheaton $4,100 Total Stack $10,900 (21.8% of salary)
The red-hot Steelers are 10 point road favorites at the Ravens. The Steelers have scored 30+ points in six consecutive games and have the highest team total of the week at 28.75 points. Even though this is a division game, these teams are heading in opposite directions. The Steelers have won 3 in a row and are fighting for a playoff spot. The Ravens have lost 3 in a row and the offseason can't get here soon enough. Look for the Steelers to run up the score and avenge their Week 4 loss to the Ravens. Ben Roethlisberger has averaged 26.5 DraftKings points over his past 6 games. The Steelers have 3 WR options to stack each at different price tiers. If you are entering multiple GPP contests, I prefer to have some exposure to each of the Steelers WRs with the option of including 2 of the 3 WRs on a single roster.
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons, Team Total 27.25 points
QB Cam Newton $7,500-TE Greg Olsen $7,000 Total Stack $14,500 (29.0% of salary)
QB Cam Newton $7,500-WR Ted Ginn Jr Jr. $4,900 Total Stack $12,400 (24.8% of salary)
The undefeated Panthers are 7 point road favorites at the Falcons. Vegas has set the game total at a high 47.5 points. When these teams met two weeks ago, the Panthers shutout the Falcons 38-0. Cam Newton has continued his MVP stetch over the past three weeks with 13 total touchdowns. After his league leading 48.6 DraftKings points last week, Newton's salary came down $300. Greg Olsen has been the most consistent TE in the league this season averaging 16.1 DraftKings points/per week. Ted Ginn Jr has caught fire over the past 3 weeks with 6 touchdowns and an average of 27 DraftKings fantasy points. Newton will be a popular option again this weekend. While it is not essential to stack Newton with a receiving target, Olsen and Ginn both have multiple-touchdown upside.
Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints, Team Total 24.25 points
QB Blake Bortles $6,500-WR Allen Robinson $7,500 Total Stack $14,000 (28.0% of salary)
QB Blake Bortles $6,500-TE Julius Thomas $5,100 Total Stack $11,600 (23.2% of salary)
The Jags are 3.5 point road favorites at the Saints. The game total is the highest of the week at 52 points. Blake Bortles has been one of the most consistent QBs in the league averaging 28.8 DraftKings fantasy points over the past 4 weeks. Look for motivation to play a factor for WR Allen Robinson after being snubbed for the Pro Bowl this week. Robinson has 13 touchdowns on the season and 6 touchdowns over the past 4 games. TE Julius Thomas has stepped up his game averaging 16.5 fantasy points over the past 5 weeks. The Saints have allowed a league leading 39 passing touchdowns on the season. Vegas expects this game to be a shoot-out so make sure you have some exposure to this game
UNDER THE RADAR STACKS
Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers, Team Total 27 points
QB Carson Palmer $7,000-WR Larry Fitzgerald $7,100 Total Stack $14,100 (28.2% of salary)
QB Carson Palmer $7,000-WR John Brown $5,300 Total Stack $12,300 (24.6% of salary)
QB Carson Palmer $7,000-WR Michael Floyd $4,900 Total Stack $11,900 (23.8% of salary)
The Cardinals are 4.5 point home favorites vs. the Packers. Vegas has the game total (49.5) as the second highest of the week. David Johnson is going to be very popular after his 3 touchdown performance last week. Most players will not want to roster an Arizona QB-WR stack with Johnson. Thus, a Cardinals stack is a solid pivot for GPP tournaments. Packers CB Sam Shields did not practice on Friday and is not expected to play. Look for Carson Palmer to attack the Packers through the air this week. Palmer has been consistent at home averaging 23.9 fantasy points/per game this season. Of the Cardinals WRs, I prefer John Brown over Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald.
Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers, Team Total 26.25 points
QB Matt Stafford $6,100-WR Golden Tate $5,800 Total Stack $11,900 (23.8% of salary)
The Lions are 9.5 point home favorites vs. the 49ers. Detroit has the 7th highest team total of the weekend at 26.25 points. Matt Stafford has performed significantly better at home this season averaging 22 fantasy points in those games. WR Calvin Johnson was limited during practice on Friday with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for the game. Regardless whether Johnson plays or not, look for Golden Tate to continue his hot streak of 4 touchdowns over the past 2 games. The 49ers are ranked as the 7th worst passing defense in the league allowing 24.2 points/per game.
