In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
Chalk Stacks
Philadelphia Eagles
Team Total 29 points. With the highest team total of the week and an up-tempo Chip Kelly offense, many will be looking to stack the Eagles this week.
QB Sam Bradford $6,900-WR Jordan Matthews $7,200 Total Stack $14,100 (28.2% of salary)
Stacking Bradford with Matthews will be a very popular option this weekend.
Alternate Philadelphia Options
QB Sam Bradford $6,900-WR Nelson Agholor $5,700 Total Stack $12,600 (25.2% of salary)
QB Sam Bradford $6,900-WR Riley Cooper $3,000 Total Stack $9,900 (19.8% of salary)
Stacking Bradford with another Eagles receiver will be less owned and more risky. This is a great strategy for GPPs. If Bradford connects with a receiver not named Jordan Matthews for multiple touchdowns, it will help vault you up the standings.
Atlanta Falcons
Team Total 26 points. On the other side of the field, you have the Atlanta Falcons. They are well equipped to shoot out with the Eagles.
QB Matt Ryan $7,500-WR Julio Jones $9,300 Total Stack $16,800 (33.6% of salary)
A Ryan/Jones stack will be the most popular option for those stacking Atlanta. Jones has the ability to take over a game. This stack leaves you with $4,742/per player which will make it difficult to build the rest of your team. If you can find some viable punt plays to include with this stack, it is worth playing the chalk.
Alternate Atlanta Option
QB Matt Ryan $7,500-WR Roddy White $6,500 Total Stack 14,000 (28% of salary)
Make sure to check the practice and injury reports before playing Roddy White. If White is out, Leonard Hankerson at $3,000 will be an option for an Atlanta stack.
Green Bay Packers
Team Total 28.25 points. Green Bay is favored by 6.5 points on the road in Chicago. Vegas expects the Packers to be fine this week without Jordy Nelson.
QB Aaron Rodgers $8,600-WR Davante Adams $4,400 Total Stack $13,000 (26% of salary)
QB Aaron Rodgers $8,600-WR Randall Cobb $8,000 Total Stack $16,600 (33.2% of salary)
The Rodgers/Adams stack has a good chance to be the most popular GPP stack this weekend. If you are looking to differentiate your GPP stack, it is best to look in another direction.
If Cobb gets the green light to play this weekend, the Rodgers/Cobb stack is in play. It is an expensive stack that leaves $4,771/per player for the remainder of your team.
Buffalo Bills
Team Total 21.75 points. Buffalo will be a popular option because Tyrod Taylor is minimum price, $5000 this week.
QB Tyrod Taylor $5,000-WR Sammy Watkins $7,000 Total Stack $12,000 (24% of salary)
QB Tyrod Taylor $5,000-WR Robert Woods $3,500 Total Stack $8,500 (17% of salary)
QB Tyrod Taylor $5,000-TE Charles Clay $3,700 Total Stack $8,700 (17.4% of salary)
Tyrod Taylor has a good chance to reach value this week due to his rushing ability and the fact that he is minimum price. Sammy Watkins should be matched up with Vontae Davis for much of the game which lessens his appeal. If stacking with Taylor, we recommend pairing him up with Robert Woods or Charles Clay. They will be less owned and leave you with more money to spend on other positions.
Under the Radar Stacks
Dallas Cowboys
Team Total 28.75 points. Vegas expects Sunday night's Cowboys-Giants game to be one of the highest scoring games this weekend. These teams have past history of shoot outs.
QB Tony Romo $7,300-WR Dez Bryant $8,700 Total Stack $16,000 (32% of salary)
A Romo/Bryant stack is the main option for those stacking Dallas. Using 32% of your salary will leave you with $4,857/per player. Bryant has a history of producing multiple touchdown games. In two games vs. the Giants last season, Bryant registered 27.1 and 27.6 points.
Denver Broncos
Team Total 26.75 points. Vegas expects the Denver/Baltimore game to be higher scoring than expected with a 49 over/under. This game is flying under the radar in the fantasy community.
QB Peyton Manning $8,200-WR Demaryius Thomas $9,100 Total Stack $17,300 (34.6% of salary)
A Manning/Thomas stack is expensive and the most viable option for this game. While Denver is flying under the radar, this stack only leaves you with $4,671/per player. If you can find some viable punt plays to include with this stack, it has the potential to pay huge dividends
Arizona Cardinals
Team Total 25.5 points. Another game with a higher over/under (48.5 points) than expected is the Arizona/New Orleans game. New Orleans will be without starting cornerback Keenan Lewis and starting safety Jarius Byrd.
QB Carson Palmer $6,500-WR John Brown $4,500 Total Stack $11,000 (22% of salary)
QB Carson Palmer $6,500-WR Larry Fitzgerald $5,500 Total Stack $12,000 (24% of salary)
An Arizona stack is not only under the radar but also leaves you with plenty of salary for other positions. A Palmer/Brown stack will leave you with a healthy $5,571/per player. This extra salary should be used to pay up for an elite running back or wide receiver.
Indianapolis Colts
Team Total 24.25 points. Most of the attention in this game is on Tyrod Taylor. It is rare that we can roster the best fantasy QB in the league as an under the radar play.
QB Andrew Luck $8,300-WR T.Y. Hilton $7,600 Total Stack $15,900 (31.8% of salary)
QB Andrew Luck $8,300-WR Andre Johnson $6,100 Total Stack $14,400 (28.8% of salary)
The over/under of 46 in this game shows that Vegas expects the Colts to hang some points on the scoreboard. Buffalo rookie CB Ronald Darby struggled to contain Martavis Bryant during their Week 3 Preseason game. Andrew Luck will target whichever WR Darby is covering this week.
