In this weekly article, we will provide you with some popular "chalk" stacks and some "under the radar" stacks to use in your DraftKings GPP tournaments. (GPPs)
Chalk Stacks
San Diego Chargers at Baltimore Ravens, Team Total 23.25 points
QB Philip Rivers $6,600-WR Keenan Allen $7,700 Total Stack $14,300 (28.6% of salary)
QB Philip Rivers $6,600-TE Ladarius Green $3,000 Total Stack $9,600 (19.2% of salary)
San Diego is a 3.5 point road underdog at Baltimore. The game total is the highest of the weekend at 50 points. Philip Rivers leads the league in passing with 2,452 passing yards yet he ranks as the 9th highest priced QB this week on DraftKings. Rivers has multiple passing touchdowns in 6 out of 7 weeks and has paid off his DraftKings salary four consecutive weeks. Through seven games, Baltimore's defense has allowed the fourth most passing yards, 1,981, in the league. Most will stack Rivers with his main target Keenan Allen. Ladarius Green is a cheap alternative if Antonio Gates is inactive again this Sunday.
St. Louis Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers, Team Total 24.25 points
RB Todd Gurley $6,300-DEF Rams Defense $3,200 Total Stack $9,500 (19% of salary)
The Rams are a 8.5 point home favorite vs. San Francisco. The game total is set at 40 points. All signs are pointing to a favorable game script for a correlation play with Gurley and the Rams defense for the second consecutive week. Gurley's price rose $1,300 but he is still under-priced and the 8th highest priced running back with a DraftKings salary of $6,300. The Rams defense rose $800 in price but they are still a good value as the 5th highest priced defense. San Francisco is last in the league in total yards with 295.6 total yards/per game. Colin Kaepernick has the potential to throw multiple interceptions on the road. During Week 3 in Arizona, Kaepernick threw four interceptions and two were returned for touchdowns.
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers, Team Total 23.5 points
QB Andy Dalton $6,000-WR A.J. Green $7,600 Total Stack $13,600 (27.2% of salary)
QB Andy Dalton $6,000-TE Tyler Eifert $5,300 Total Stack $11,300 (22.6% of salary)
QB Andy Dalton $6,000-WR Marvin Jones $4,200 Total Stack $10,200 (20.4% of salary)
The Vegas line has moved significantly since it opened at Cincinnati -2 at Pittsburgh. The line currently sits as Pittsburgh as a 1.5 point favorite. The game total is set at 48.5 points. All signs point to this game as being a shoot-out. Pittsburgh's defense has allowed the sixth most passing yards, 1,938 in the league. Dalton is still under-priced at a DraftKings price of $6,000, the 12th most expensive quarterback. The Cincinnati offense has been more balanced this season but if you are stacking Dalton the best options are either A.J. Green or Tyler Eifert. Green has been quiet since his Week 3 game vs the Ravens were he went for a career best 227 yards and 2 touchdowns. Eifert has been one of the most consistent options at tight end this season with 6 touchdowns. Marvin Jones is a good alternative if you are looking to differentiate your Cincinnati stack.
Under the Radar Stacks
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Team Total 25 points
QB Ben Roethlisberger $6,700-WR Antonio Brown $7,800 Total Stack $14,500 (29% of salary)
QB Ben Roethlisberger $6,700-WR Martavis Bryant $5,300 Total Stack $12,000 (24% of salary)
The Vegas line has moved since it opened with Cincinnati -2 at Pittsburgh. The line currently sits as Pittsburgh as a 1.5 point favorite. This line movement is significant for the Pittsburgh offense. Roethlisberger is expected to return from his knee injury and will have all of his offensive weapons available for the first time this season. I expect many to take a wait and see approach with Roethlisberger this week. Vegas expects the game to be a shoot-out with a total of 48.5 points. This is a prime opportunity to get some exposure to a Pittsburgh stack. Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant are both under-priced and carry multiple touchdown upside.
New York Jets at Oakland Raiders, Team Total 23 points
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick $5,200-WR Brandon Marshall $7,600 Total Stack $12,800 (25.6% of salary)
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick $5,200-WR Eric Decker $5,300 Total Stack $10,500 (21% of salary)
The New York Jets are a 2 point road favorite at Oakland. The game total is set at 44 points. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been a consistent quarterback this season throwing 2 touchdowns in five out of six games. He is still severely under-priced and near the minimum with a DraftKings salary of only $5,200. Oakland's rush defense has been good this season allowing the third least rushing yards (84.3) allowed/per game. The Jets will look to move the ball with the passing game. Oakland's pass defense has allowed a league leading 303.8 passing yards/per game. Brandon Marshall is appropriately priced but Eric Decker is a good value at $5,300. Decker has scored a minimum of 11.7 DraftKings points in every game this season.
New York Giants at New Orleans Saints, Team Total 25.75 points
QB Eli Manning $6,600-WR Odell Beckham Jr $8,500 Total Stack $15,100 (30.2% of salary)
QB Eli Manning $6,600-WR Rueben Randle $4,200 Total Stack $10,800 (21.6% of salary)
The New York Giants are a 3.5 point road underdog at New Orleans. The game total is one of the highest of the week at 49 points. Eli Manning has been inconsistent this season with a DraftKings fantasy point range of 6.4 points-32.74 points. This inconsistency makes it a tough decision to play Eli Manning in your cash games. However, he is a good GPP tournament option that should have a low ownership percentage. The Saints defense has allowed the sixth most passing yards (1,930) in the league this season. Odell Beckham Jr has been quiet the past two weeks but is due for another one of his 150 yard, 2 touchdown performances. He should carry a low ownership percentage due to recency bias. If you are looking for a cheap option with a Giants stack, Rueben Randle is in-play at $4,200.
