1. NYJ - Le'Veon Bell wasn't wanted by head coach

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell signing with the team didn't please head coach Adam Gase, who didn't want to spend money at the position, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just when you thought it would be a slow news day, the Jets are making waves on in the middle of the week. Former Jets GM Mike Maccagnan (fired on Wednesday) was in charge when the Jets signed Bell to a a four-year, $52.5 million contract with $35 million guaranteed. Gase has mostly used RBBCs in stops with the Broncos and the Dolphins, but with the Jets they should feed Bell early and often.

2. NYJ - Mike Maccagnan, Brian Heimerdinger fired

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington

New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan and vice president of player personnel Brian Heimerdinger were fired Wednesday, May 15, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There have been plenty of rumblings about new head coach Adam Gase and Maccagnan not getting along, and this firing confirms that something wasn't right. Gase takes over as the interim GM while the Jets search for a new lead executive.

3. NYJ - Daniel Jeremiah to Jets?

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah is under serious consideration for a front-office position with the New York Jets, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This makes a lot of sense if the Jets hire Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas as their GM. Jeremiah has scouting experience in the NFL with the Ravens and the Eagles, and he's close with Douglas. If Jeremiah leaves TV for a front office job, it will be the second NFL Network draft analyst to do so in consecutive years as Mike Mayock moved on from TV to be the Raiders general manager.

4. IND - WR T.Y. Hilton likely will be limited

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (ankle) likely will be limited during offseason workouts because the team wants him to rest after dealing with ankle injuries last season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton is a seasoned pro and the Colts don't need him to get every rep out there. It's smart to manage his practice time in an effort to have him fresh for (and during) the regular season. Hilton has a current ADP of WR10 (3.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

5. CIN - TE Tyler Eifert taking part in workouts

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Fletcher Page

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (ankle) said he has been able to most of the drills during the offseason workouts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's news when Eifert is participating in workouts. Everyone knows he's talented but he's as oft-injured as you can get. He's only played in 14 games over the last three years and has never played a full 16-game season. Eifert said he hopes to be 100 percent healthy for the start of training camp.

6. MIA - DE Connor Barwin's visit over

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Updating a previous report, free-agent LB Connor Barwin (Giants) met with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 15, but did not receive a contract offer after the meeting.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins might just be updating their emergency list here with Barwin. He's gotten little to no interest since being let go from the Rams back in January. The team is still interested in Barwin and could sign him later in the offseason.

7. MIA - Two players limited

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant (Achilles) and DE Charles Harris (wrist) were limited during practice Tuesday, May 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Grant didn't tear his Achilles' but did require lower leg surgery last November. He expects to be ready for training camp.

8. MIA - WR Albert Wilson misses practice

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson (hip) did not participate in practice Tuesday, May 14, because he is still recovering from a hip injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson made it through seven games last year for the Dolphins before this hip injury landed him on Injured Reserve. He didn't require surgery but is still recovering with an eye on returning for training camp.

9. BAL - OLB Pernell McPhee may be option

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Free-agent LB Pernell McPhee (Redskins) is a player that the Baltimore Ravens are considering signing.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McPhee appeared in 13 games last year for Washington, compiling just 11 tackles, one fumble recovery and two passes defensed. A fifth-round pick for the Ravens back in 2011, McPhee was with the team for four seasons. He could come back to Baltimore as a part-time outside linebacker.

10. DAL - No surgery for Mike Weber

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys RB Mike Weber (knee) will not undergo knee surgery at this point. The team hopes rest and rehab will help Weber recover but is not ruling out surgery later this offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The rookie from Ohio State went down in practice over the weekend. The team will monitor his recovery and hope that rest can heal him properly. Weber is an instinctive runner who doesn't stand out with speed or power. When healthy, we'll see the Cowboys 2019 seventh-round pick compete with guys like Tony Pollard and Darius Jackson to establish the pecking order behind starter Ezekiel Elliott.

11. NE - OLB Jamie Collins headed back to Patriots?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent LB Jamie Collins (Browns) is in serious talks with the New England Patriots Wednesday, May 15.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns released Collins in early March and he's garnered little interest on the open market. The Patriots are the team that traded him to the Browns in the first place and it would be just like them to take a flier on a player they know well. Collins won't get a big deal but he could get a shot with the Patriots again in the near future.

12. MIA - DE Connor Barwin visiting Dolphins

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan

Free-agent DE Connor Barwin (Giants) is visiting the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 15.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There has been little to no interest in Barwin on the open market, and this is his first known visit. Released by the Giants back in January, Barwin won't provide much production if signed (1.0 sack in 15 games last year) but gives a team veteran presence.

13. DAL - DE Taco Charlton has surgery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys DE Taco Charlton (ankle) had a minor arthroscopic surgery on his ankle recently, and he should be ready for training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a minor procedure as scopes are, but this is still a concern since Charlton hasn't been able to stay healthy or produce at a high level in two seasons with the Cowboys. Already recovering from shoulder surgery (limited to 11 games last season), Charlton has only 4.0 sacks in his pro career.

14. SF - TE Levine Toilolo agrees with 49ers

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent TE Levine Toilolo (Lions) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the San Francisco 49ers Wednesday, May 15. The deal is pending a physical.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Toilolo is a big-bodied blocker and not someone who is going to be a fantasy factor. He played under 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan back with the Atlanta Falcons when Shahanan was their offensive coordinator.
