1. PIT - Progress in Le'Veon Bell talks

Source: NFL.com - Chris Wesseling

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said on NFL Network that the two sides are a lot closer on a contract extension than they were last season. 'That's what I'm happy about,' Bell said. 'None of that matters if we don't get it done. Hopefully we'll try to get something done. That's what I'm looking forward to. I got confidence we'll get it done. I want to do it.' Bell said he didn't think he'd have fewer touches in offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner's system. However, he could have more catches than rushes sometimes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell held out through training camp last year after getting the franchise tag, and he says he's prepared to do the same in 2018. Progress is great, but deals get done at deadlines in the NFL. That means we should look for something to happen (if at all) in mid-July.

2. WAS - Derrius Guice the favorite to start

Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice will make 'a big impact from the get-go,' and it would be surprising if someone other than him opened the season as the starter, according to ESPN's John Keim.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's what everyone is expecting at this point, and we'll see if the rookie from LSU can prove himself during training camp and the preseason. Guice fell in the draft due to off-field/motivation concerns and has a chip on his shoulder since he feels he should've been a first-round pick. Right now, fantasy owners are taking Guice off the board at RB19 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

3. CLE - Nick Chubb could get bulk of early-down work

Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb appears to have a very good chance at getting the bulk of the every-down carries, especially early in games, according to ESPN's Pat McManamon.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chubb has tremendous talent and has a natural feel for running the ball between the tackles. He'll compete with free agent addition Carlos Hyde to be the team's lead back while Duke Johnson Jr. will stay as the primary third-down and pass-catching weapon out of the backfield. Chubb is going off the board at RB41 (9.02) in current 12-team PPR league drafts.

4. LAR - LAR having positive talks with DE Aaron Donald

Source: NFL.com - Steve Wyche

The Los Angeles Rams have had positive talks with DT Aaron Donald and will continue to work towards a contract extension for Donald, according to executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Donald is a tremendous talent and certainly one of the best defensive players in the NFL. The Rams would be foolish not to get this done, and do so soon. He averaged over 30 tackles over the last two years and we think he could approach 40 this year, which would put him close to his high of 44 in 2015.

5. DAL - TE Geoff Swaim likely top option at TE

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys TE Geoff Swaim appears to be the leading candidate for the starting tight end job this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've seen plenty of positive reports about Swaim this offseason, and we'll be watching to see what he can do in training camp and the preseason. Without WR Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten, the Cowboys passing attack is going to look much different this year. Swaim will have to prove he's the more valuable starter than other TEs like Rico Gathers or Blake Jarwin.

6. DAL - Decision on DE Randy Gregory a few weeks away?

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping to receive a decision on DE Randy Gregory's reinstatement around the start of training camp, according to ESPN.com's Todd Archer.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's been reported that Gregory has passed a drug test daily over the past half year. Suspended since 2016, Gregory is an unproven commodity and will have to fight to find his way on the field for any significant amount of time.

7. JAX - Dawuane Smoot missed workouts

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dawuane Smoot (undisclosed) missed all of the offseason workouts because of an undisclosed injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smoot didn't get much run last season, and missing the offseason workouts, while not the end of the world, isn't helping his chances. He is likely a reserve again this season.

8. HOU - S Kareem Jackson happy with new position

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans CB Kareem Jackson said he likes the move to safety and is looking to help the team however he can this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some corners move to safety later in the their careers with great success. The Texans are hoping that's the case with Jackson, a first-round pick back in 2010. He's lost a step and isn't quite the same player he used to be. Jackson received snaps at the position during offseason workouts and training camp.

9. NYJ - Important year for Kelvin Beachum

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets OT Kelvin Beachum could be a salary cap casualty next offseason if he does not play well in 2018.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beachum has a cap number of $9.5 million in 2018 with $7 million in dead money. Pro Football Focus gave him a grade of 72.7 (average) for his play in 2017. The Jets would save $8 million in salary cap space if they released Beachum next offseason.

10. BUF - DE Trent Murphy limited during workouts

Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills DE Trent Murphy (knee) was limited during offseason workouts because he is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills need Murphy to have a bounce-back year in 2018, especially after giving him a three-year, $21 million contract this offseason. This report indicates Murphy will work with the first-team defense as soon as he is cleared for full practice.

11. ARI - JJ Nelson wants to be complete WR

Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson said he is looking to be more than a deep threat and believes the new offensive scheme will help him become a more complete receiver.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Nelson can play like more than just a speed buy who stretches the defense vertically. With John Brown (Ravens) gone, there's an opportunity for someone like Nelson to emerge as a primary target in the passing game behind WR Larry Fitzgerald and RB David Johnson. Entering his fourth year and coming off back-to-back seasons with more than 500 yards receiving in each, Nelson is poised for a breakout year if he wins that no.2 spot. Brice Butler and rookie Christian Kirk will compete with Nelson for targets in 2018.

12. DAL - WR Noah Brown saw time with starters

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Noah Brown received some snaps with the first-team offense during offseason workouts and minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A seventh-round pick out of Ohio State in 2017, Brown is a player to monitor in dynasty leagues. Injuries set him back during his college career, but Brown has the size (6'2" 222 pounds) to be at least an interesting red-zone target in the new look Cowboys passing game. We'll see if he can stay healthy and produce with more opportunity in 2018 after snaring only four passes for 33 yards as a rookie.

13. CLE - DE Carl Nassib could feel roster pinch

Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon

Cleveland Browns DE Carl Nassib started 12 games in 2017 thanks in part to injuries to Myles Garrett and Emmanuel Ogbah, but Ogbah's return to health and the selection of Chad Thomas in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft may put Nassib on the roster bubble, according to ESPN's Pat McManamon.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With just 5.5 sacks recorded over two seasons with the Browns, Nassib has to prove he's capable of more if he wants to make the final roster this season. A third-round pick out of Penn State in 2016, Nassib seems to have been a favorite of the former front office and may be on thin ice with the new direction the Browns want to go in.

14. JAX - Dante Fowler update

Source: 1010XL AM - Hays Carlyon

Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Dante Fowler (upper body) missed the offseason program due to an undisclosed upper-body injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reports and rumors are swirling about Fowler's future in Jacksonville and the potential he could be traded to a team like the Jets when healthy. Fowler has lost sizeable muscle mass in his upper body, and his status for training camp is unknown. Jacksonville did not pick up his fifth-year option, so Fowler is in the final year of his rookie contract.

15. SF - TE George Kittle added more muscle

Source: San Jose Mercury News - Curtis Pashelka

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle took steps to add more muscle mass during the offseason in hopes that it will prevent some of the injuries that bothered him throughout last season. He's also been practicing catching the ball away from his body during informal throwing sessions with QBs Jimmy Garoppolo and C.J. Beathard.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kittle is an exciting TE2 with upside for fantasy owners in 2018. A fifth-round pick out of Iowa in 2017, Kittle should be a security blanket for QB Jimmy Garropolo.
