1. TB - Ryan Griffin could start

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan W. Griffin has a chance in training camp to pass QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on the depth chart. QB Jameis Winston is expected to miss the first three games, and Griffin could start.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Griffin was developing as the team's #3 quarterback behind Winston and Mike Glennon in 2015 and 2016, but ended up on injured reserve to start the season last year and was activated to back up Ryan Fitzpatrick when Winston got hurt. While Fitzpatrick is one of most experienced backups in the league, the Bucs should give Griffin a chance to unseat him. If he does, it shouldn't be considered a big downgrade for Tampa skill players in the weeks Winston will miss.

2. CLE - Cleveland expect to ride 'hot hand' at RB

Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Andrew Gribble

Cleveland Browns RBs Carlos Hyde, Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson each are expected to play a major role in the team's offense this season, but running backs coach Freddie Kitchens told the team's website he plans to ride the 'hot hand' in the backfield because 'if they are having success, why would you change?'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson will surely lead the team in receptions out of the backfield, but Hyde and Chubb will have a fierce battle for early down carries, and one that could be fluid from game-to-game if Kitchens is to taken at face value. The Browns backfield is a tough puzzle to solve, although it's more enticing with expectations of much better game scripts this year.

3. JAX - TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins generating buzz

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was constantly open during non-contact practices and made impressive catch after impressive catch, according to Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Seferian-Jenkins could have easily had a solid TE1 status for most of the year were it not for a few questionable touchdown nullifications. He has been as good as advertised so far and could be an early season waiver wire wonder or a late round tight end streamer special with his opener against the Giants, who have been among the worst in the league at defending tight ends.

4. JAX - QB Blake Bortles inspiring confidence

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles displayed improved accuracy and impressive chemistry with his new weapons, and he also seemed very comfortable with his improved throwing motion after spending even more time working on it in California, according to Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bortles came on at the end of the year, and will gain a tight end and downfield receiver that he is showing good chemistry with so far. He's basically free in drafts and opens with the Giants, New England, and Tennessee.

5. HOU - S Kareem Jackson moving to safety

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans CB Kareem Jackson will be moving from cornerback to safety this season, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team lost starter Andre Hal to Hodgkin's Lymphoma earlier this month. Jackson will compete with third-round pick Justin Reid (Stanford) to start opposite free agent acquisition Tyrann Mathieu. The signing of Aaron Colvin away from Jacksonville helped create cornerback depth and flexibility to make this move.

6. TEN - ILB Jayon Brown has solid offseason

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans LB Jayon Brown made a lot of plays during offseason workouts, according to TitansOnline.com's Jim Wyatt.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans lost Avery Williamson in free agency but have a very strong inside linebacker group. Brown will compete with sometimes Washington starter Will Compton and first-round pick Rashaan Evans for playing time next to Wesley Woodyard.

7. NYJ - Eric Tomlinson will have role in 2018

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets TE Eric Tomlinson will have a decent role as a blocker this upcoming season but could also be involved in the passing game.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jordan Leggett or rookie Chris Herndon should lead the team in targets at tight end, but Tomlinson's presence will take part of the target share and keep the youngsters from being as relevant as Austin Seferian-Jenkins was last year.

8. NYJ - DE Henry Anderson could start

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets DE Henry Anderson could start at defensive end this season if DE Nathan Shepherd is not ready for the role, in the opinion of the New York Post's Brian Costello. Head coach Todd Bowles said Anderson will receive playing time when the team uses a four-man front.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson was a quiet pickup during the draft by the Jets, but he has reportedly looked good and has a real chance to start and even have deep league IDP relevance this year.

9. NE - Isaiah Wynn signs contract

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots first-round draft choice OT Isaiah Wynn signed a four-year contract with the Patriots Friday, June 22, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal does include a fifth-year option.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Wynn will play guard, but he could still eventually end up at tackle. Either way, he'll firm up the offensive line for years to come if he lives up to draft pedigree and college tape.

10. ARI - S Tre Boston unhappy with offer

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio

Free-agent SS Tre Boston (Chargers) said the contract offer he received from the Arizona Cardinals was very disrespectful.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Boston was a solid centerfielder last year, and it would seem that multiple teams could use someone with his skillset. The free agent safety market has been abnormally weak, but we think that he'll get an offer that probably includes starter money and role once every team gets a clear picture of their safety depth chart.

11. IND - Anthony Walker Jr. no longer in protocol

Source: Twitter - Anthony Walker

Indianapolis Colts LB Anthony Walker Jr. (concussion) announced via social media that he cleared the league's concussion protocol Friday, June 22.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker has been running as the first-team middle linebacker this offseason, so this is a good news for a potential up and coming IDP whose rookie year was uneventful because of a hamstring injury.

12. SF - Laken Tomlinson, San Fran agree to extension

Source: NFL.com - Mike Garafolo

San Francisco 49ers OG Laken Tomlinson agreed to a three-year contract extension worth a maximum of $18 million with $10 million in guarantees on Friday, June 22, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers had a bit of a jumble at guard this offseason with the addition of Jonathan Cooper and Mike Person. The team is clearly happy with Tomlinson, who is a stronger run blocker than pass blocker and improved with Jimmy Garoppolo. He'll line up at left guard with Cooper, Person, and 2016 first-round pick Joshua Garnett vying to start at right guard.

13. JAX - Keelan Cole not going away

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Keelan Cole hasn't 'skipped a beat' this offseason following his surprise rookie season and seems poised to be the Jaguars' third wide receiver this season, according to FirstCoastNews.com's Mike Kaye, who added Cole may end up being the team's best option in the slot.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cole was the team's #1 when injuries depleted their wide receiver ranks last year, but he is will be more of a boom/bust best ball special with Marqise Lee's return and the addition of Donte Moncrief. Neither of Lee and Moncrief are known for their durability, so Cole could still pay off on a late pick with some patience.

14. JAX - WR Donte Moncrief flashes during spring

Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Donte Moncrief was healthy during offseason workouts and able to show off his speed on deep routes throughout OTAs, according to Mike Kaye of FirstCoastNews.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief's signing was a bit expensive for an oft-injured underachiever, but it appears that he is providing the vertical element that the Colts seemed to de-emphasize in recent years. He's just a late round flier, but he has more of a pulse now than he has at any point in the last year.

15. CAR - Taylor Heinicke could be backup

Source: Panthers.com - Bryan Strickland

Carolina Panthers QB Taylor Heinicke is 'in the running' for the backup quarterback job, according to Bryan Strickland of Panthers.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers chose to not bring back Derek Anderson, so they will have one of the most anonymous backup quarterbacks in the league. Garrett Gilbert is the current leader, but Heinicke was with current Panthers offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Norv and Scott Turner for two years in Minnesota, so he could overtake Gilbert with a good camp and preseason.

16. DEN - DaeSean Hamilton earning trust

Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos WR DaeSean Hamilton can be counted on to run the proper routes, according to QB Case Keenum. 'To have a receiver that you can count on to be in the right place at the right time, that's always a huge plus,' Keenum said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamilton's route-running was among the best in this year's draft class, which should get Hamilton on the field early in his career. This could be the last year for Emmanuel Sanders in Denver, with Hamilton poised to take his spot and Courtland Sutton projecting as the Demaryius Thomas replacement stylistically.
