1. LAR - PK Greg Zuerlein limited Wednesday

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Los Angeles Rams PK Greg Zuerlein (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Zuerlein will play on Sunday, but we won't know whether the injury will affect his performance until we see him take a field goal or extra point attempt.

2. CAR - QB Cam Newton feeling good

Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) said his surgically repaired shoulder is feeling good.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is good news, but inconsequential until we see him on a field, which probably won't happen until the open of training camp at the earliest. The Andrew Luck saga has taught us to pay attention to everything, so this is still worth noting.

3. LAC - RB Melvin Gordon to wait on extension

Source: The Orange County Register - Gilbert Manzano

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon said he wants to wait until free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell (Steelers) signs a new contract this offseason before he considers signing a contract extension with the Chargers.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon's case might not be helped by Bell's contract considering Bell's handling of his last contract impasse and his history of suspensions. Chances are Gordon will get a deal more like David Johnson's than Todd Gurley's.

4. LAC - WR Tyrell Williams thinks he is No. 1 WR

Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent WR Tyrell Williams said he believes he is a No. 1 receiver in the league. He said he will work on improving his route running and blocking.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams isn't a #1, but he added more to his crossing route/go route repertoire and should be one of the highest paid free agent wide receivers this year. Mike Williams dynasty stock is about to get a bump with his departure.

5. ARI - CB Patrick Peterson regrets trade ask

Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson apologized Wednesday, Jan. 30, for asking to be traded last season, reiterating that he wants to stay in Arizona.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson at least has a new regime to look forward to, and Vance Joseph, an accomplished former defensive backs coach, as his defensive coordinator. He is the cornerstone of the team on defense.

6. NE - S Devin McCourty not thinking retirement

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

New England Patriots CB Devin McCourty said he has not thought about whether or not to retire if the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII. McCourty is signed through the 2019 season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCourty was reunited with his brother this year. He didn't close the door on retirement, so it's a possibility. He has been a mainstay in the Patriots secondary for almost a decade and would be tough to replace.

7. NFL - RB Kareem Hunt investigation nearing cessation

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Free-agent RB Kareem Hunt's (Chiefs) ongoing investigation by the NFL will be finished soon, according to commissioner Roger Goodell. Hunt is able to sign with a team, but he would not be able to play as long as he's on the commissioner's exempt list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Most signs point to Hunt being signed somewhere this offseason. He can rocket his way to the top of a depth chart easily, so this is still a buy low moment in dynasty leagues.

8. LAR - WR DeSean Jackson wants to be a Ram

Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson mentioned Wednesday, Jan. 30, that he desires to play for the Los Angeles Rams, although he is under contract with the Buccaneers for one more season. Jackson played for the Washington Redskins while Rams head coach Sean McVay was the offensive coordinator there.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is almost certainly going to be released, but the Rams don't really have a need for him. Perhaps if he takes a big pay cut he could end up in Los Angeles, but don't count on it. The Sean McVay craze apparently applies to players in addition to owners and general managers.

9. MIA - CB Xavien Howard not fazed by chatter

Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard said he's not worried about any trade rumors swirling around as he heads into the final year of his rookie contract. 'It is what it is,' Howard said. 'It's a business. Be prepared for it. Wherever I go, it don't matter; I'm still going to be busting my butt.' Howard was tied for the league-lead in interceptions in 2018 with seven. If Howard is signed to a long-term extension, he could see at least $14 million per year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins have the look of a team that will be tanking in 2019 to get one of the top quarterbacks in 2020. Trading Howard before he breaks the bank on a new deal to recoup more picks for rebuilding could fit that modus operandi.

10. WAS - Rob Ryan finds a home

Source: Redskins.com

Former Buffalo Bills assistant head coach Rob Ryan was hired by the Washington Redskins Wednesday, Jan. 30, as their inside linebackers coach.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The NFL is more interesting when either of the Ryan brothers are on the sidelines. He can help with their decision on whether to cut Zach Brown and grooming young potential future starters like Shaun Dion Hamilton and Josh Harvey-Clemons.

11. BAL - ILB C.J. Mosley could see franchise tag

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent LB C.J. Mosley could receive the franchise tag as general manager Eric DeCosta said: 'everything is on the table to make sure he's back on the team.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mosley saved the season when he picked off Baker Mayfield and there's no price tag that can equal that. He deserves to be one of the highest paid linebackers in the league.

12. NO - WR Michael Thomas looking to cash in?

Source: MMQB - Albert Breer

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas is eligible for a contract extension and could be in line for money in the 'Odell Beckham neighborhood,' according to MMQB's Albert Breer. Thomas is set to earn $1.148 million in 2019 before becoming a free agent in 2020.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints would be smart to lock Thomas up at 2019 prices to keep goodwill between him and the franchise and get a savings from 2020 rates when the cap is almost certain to go up again.

13. NO - Garrett Griffin landed three-year deal

Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints TE Garrett Griffin was signed to a three-year contract when he was promoted during the playoffs, according to The Times Picayune's Josh Katzenstein.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints will be a top fantasy destination for a tight end now that Ben Watson is retiring, but Griffin would still have to fight Josh Hill and Dan Arnold for playing time even if they don't sign a free agent or draft one of a deep class of rookies.

14. MIN - Minnesota looking at Will Grier?

Source: 104.7 FM Denver - Benjamin Allbright

The Minnesota Vikings have some interest in West Virginia QB Will Grier, according to NFL draft analyst Benjamin Allbright.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Grier didn't stand out at the Senior Bowl and won't go in the first round. Just how far he'll fall will depend on his post draft performances. The Vikings also have Kyle Sloter developing as a backup with Trevor Siemian entering free agency. There could be a spot for a third quarterback.

15. GB - WR Alvis Whitted likely to coach Green Bay WRs

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Colorado State receivers coach Alvis Whitted is expected to be hired for the same position with the Green Bay Packers, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Whitted helped Rashard Higgins and Michael Gallup get to the pros, and Preston Williams should get drafted this year. He'll have a young group to work with, and probably only one long term Packers veteran in Davante Adams since Randall Cobb's contract is up.

16. SF - RB Jerick McKinnon recuperating quickly

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) is reportedly 'six weeks ahead in terms of time frame' as he continues to make his way back from the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered during the preseason, according to general manager John Lynch.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKinnon was signed to be the lead back, although Matt Breida was reportedly going to be in a committee with him before McKinnon's injury. Breida was impressive but couldn't stay healthy last year, so expect the team to employ a committee that should be fluid in terms of workload from game to game.
