Howdy Folks,

Good Saturday to you. We've got some News and Notes so let's get to it.

1. PIT - WR Antonio Brown having tests done on knee

Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (knee) is undergoing tests on his knee after experiencing knee discomfort, according to head coach Mike Tomlin, who is reportedly 'leaving the door open' for Brown to play in Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is questionable and certainly if he can play he will. This could diminish his outlook a bit and make Juju Smith-Schuster the Steeler receiver play in Week 17.

2. PIT - PK Chris Boswell to IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers PK Chris Boswell (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Dec. 28. Free-agent PK Matthew McCrane (Cardinals) signed an undisclosed deal to serve as the Steelers' kicker.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If the Steelers season comes down to a kick, it won't be Boswell taking it. The team seemed to lose confidence in him earlier in the season but stuck with him because of his contract commitment.

3. LAR - RB Todd Gurley to miss Week 17

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

CJ Anderson will get another start and be a borderline RB1 this week. John Kelly should be the backup and get another chance to show what he can do behind Gurley with Malcolm Brown carrying a restricted free agent status into the offseason.

4. TEN - QB Marcus Mariota questionable for finale

Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 28 and he is listed as questionable for the Week 17 showdown with the Indianapolis Colts. If he cannot start it would be QB Blaine Gabbert under center.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect Mariota to play, but the risk of him being limited by the injury or knocked out of the game by an aggravation makes him a desperation play even in 2QB/Superflex leagues.

5. PIT - RB James Conner practices in full

Source: Bengals.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) practiced in full for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 28 and he is off the injury report ahead of the Week 17 game with the Cincinnati Bengals.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner should be ready for a full workload in a game the Steelers will likely control. He's a top five play this week.

6. NO - QB Teddy Bridgewater starting

Source: The Times-Picayune - Herbie Teope

New Orleans Saints QB Teddy Bridgewater will start in Week 17 against the Carolina Panthers with the Saints having the No. 1 playoff seed locked up.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drew Brees won't play in Week 17. Don't be surprised if Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and Mark Ingram are also rested. Keith Kirkwood, Tre'Quan Smith, and Dwayne Washington should get a lot of snaps against Carolina.

7. SF - WR Dante Pettis ruled out

Source: NFLCommunications.com

San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kendrick Bourne and Richie James will get a lot more snaps this week with Pettis and Marquise Goodwin sidelined. Pettis has been very impressive in his rookie season, but also has had trouble staying healthy.

8. SF - RB Matt Breida to miss Week 17

Source: NFLCommunications.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeff Wilson will get another start, but face a tough matchup against the Rams this week. He's playing to increase his chances of landing a roster spot in 2019.

9. CLE - Gregg Williams will get shot at HC job

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns interim head coach Gregg Williams, who has posted a 5-2 record since taking over for the fired Hue Jackson, will get an interview to become the full-time head coach, general manager John Dorsey has said. 'We'll talk about that after the year,' Williams said Friday, Dec. 28. 'Still on the Ravens and can't lose any focus on this going to be a tough game.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has come a long way since bountygate and he seems to riff with the collection of players in Cleveland right now. It sounded absurd two months ago, but he is a legitimate candidate for one of the choice head coaching jobs available in the NFL right now.

10. OAK - TE Jared Cook a limited participant

Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook (ribs) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 28, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook is a strong TE1 this week despite the dud last week because of the great matchup vs. the Chiefs and high-scoring potential for the game.

11. DET - WR Kenny Golladay listed as questionable

Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (chest) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay is still a must play this week with his likely huge target volume and ceiling. He has been playing with this injury for a few weeks.

12. TEN - WR Corey Davis off the injury report

Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 28 but he is off the injury report ahead of the Week 17 game with the Indianapolis Colts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a relief considering Davis's long hamstring injury history. He's still only a boom/bust WR3/flex with some risk that Marcus Mariota will be ineffective or knocked out of the game this week.

13. PHI - QB Nick Foles to start again in Week 17

Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles will make his third consecutive start in Week 17 against the Washington Redskins with QB Carson Wentz (back) ruled out again.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foles is a QB1 this week coming off of an outstanding game against the Texans. He'll almost certainly start in the wild card game if the Eagles can get in via a win and Vikings loss.

14. GB - Questionable tag for WR Davante Adams

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 17. The Packers did not hold a practice Friday, so this is an estimation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams is two receptions away from breaking Sterling Sharpe's season reception record, and with shouting distance of the yardage record. The team could play him long enough to tie or break one or both records, but he has some bust potential to go with his elite WR1 status.

15. HOU - WR Keke Coutee questionable for finale

Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Keke Coutee (hamstring) practiced in a limited fashion for the third straight day Friday, Dec. 28 and he is listed as questionable for Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coutee could play this week with the division title on the line, but the team could also choose to get him as much rest as possible before the playoffs. He'll be a boom/bust WR3/Flex if he can go against the Jaguars.

16. HOU - DeAndre Carter ready for Week 17

Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Carter (knee) practiced in full for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 28 and he is off the injury report for Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carter is an excellent PPR sleeper this week with Demaryius Thomas on injured reserve and Jalen Ramsey likely shadowing DeAndre Hopkins.

17. CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey ready for finale

Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers QB Christian McCaffrey (not injury related) practiced in full for a second straight day Friday, Dec. 28 and he is off the injury report for Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to know if the Panthers will fully or partially rest McCaffrey after he played an inordinate number of snaps this year. He's a risky play in a week of uncertainty.

18. KC - Kansas City's Week 17 injury report

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (foot) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 17 versus the Oakland Raiders. S Eric Berry (heel) did not practice Friday, Dec. 28, after practicing the previous two days but is listed as questionable. CB Kendall Fuller (thumb), RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) and RB Darrel Williams (hamstring) were full participants in practice Friday and are also listed as questionable. LB Dee Ford (knee), OT Eric Fisher (toe), WR Tyreek Hill (heel), CB Charvarius Ward (quad), C Mitch Morse (foot) and OT Mitchell Schwartz (knee) fully participated in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ware could return to action this week, but the extension for Damien Williams indicates the team's happiness with his play and likelihood that he'll remain the starter and best fantasy play in the backfield this week.

19. WAS - WR Jamison Crowder full go

Source: The Washington Post - Kareem Copeland

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (wrist) participated fully in practice Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder has been Josh Johnson's favorite target. He's a WR3/Flex against Philadelphia this week.

20. WAS - RB Adrian Peterson fully practices

Source: The Washington Post - Kareem Copeland

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (shoulder) was a full practice participant Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson has been a warrior this year playing through multiple injuries and with a porous offensive line at times. His line is getting healthier, making him a volume RB2 this week against the Eagles.

21. CHI - WR Allen Robinson unlikely to play

Source: Vikings.com

Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson (ribs) was held out of practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is listed as doubtful for Week 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears passing game is still well-stocked with options. This could get Anthony Miller and Taylor Gabriel into sleeper status and help the case for playing Tarik Cohen and Trey Burton against Minnesota.

22. WAS - TE Vernon Davis doubtful for finale

Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis (concussion) is doubtful to play in Week 17, head coach Jay Gruden said Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeremy Sprinkle will get another extended audition to be the Washington starting tight end in 2019.

23. ATL - WR Julio Jones to play in Week 17

Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ribs/hip) will play in Week 17, the team announced Friday, Dec. 29.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is a solid play this week, but Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu outscored him in Week 16 and might be as good if not better plays than him this week.

24. ATL - RB Tevin Coleman ready to go Week 17

Source: The Athletic - Jason Butt

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (groin) will play in Week 17 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brian Hill's sleeper appeal takes a hit with this news, but he should still get a chance to build on his success from last week. Coleman can show potential suitors in free agency that he can play well through injuries.

25. JAX - Jacksonville Week 17 injury report

Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars CB CB A.J. Bouye (toe), K Josh Lambo (groin) and RT Josh Wells (concussion) on Friday, Dec. 28, were ruled out for Week 17. RB Leonard Fournette (foot/ankle) is listed as doubtful.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carlos Hyde, TJ Yeldon, and David Williams will split the Jaguars backfield work in some fashion, but none make an enticing play in Week 17.

26. NYJ - WR Quincy Enunwa lands contract extension

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa signed an undisclosed multi-year contract extension Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Enunwa was a big part of the offense before getting hurt and the Jets obviously believe in him as a long term piece. Sam Darnold's play has been improving, so Enunwa's dynasty stock is enhanced by this development. The Jets are giving him around 20 million guaranteed, so they believe in his ability to be a long term starter.

27. IND - WR T.Y. Hilton remains out of practice

Source: FOX 59 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (ankle) was not spotted at practice Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton has been playing with little or no practice for weeks now, so we expect him to play and play at his typical level Sunday night. Chester Rogers and Dontrelle Inman are good hedges to carry in case Hilton is a scratch.

28. IND - TE Eric Ebron making progress

Source: FOX 59 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (concussion) practiced Friday, Dec. 28, without a red non-contact jersey which is typically a sign a player is advancing through the concussion protocol.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Look for Ebron to be active Sunday night. Anthony Firkser is available as a hedge and Mo Alie-Cox would be an emergency play if Ebron can't go.

29. JAX - RB Leonard Fournette out of Friday practice

Source: ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle, foot) was out of practice Friday, Dec. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette seems unlikely to play. Carlos Hyde and TJ Yeldon have both been healthy scratches in recent weeks, so this will be a difficult backfield to project this week.

30. HOU - RB Lamar Miller good to go

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating an earlier report, Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) will be 'good to go' Sunday, Dec. 30, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller is a still a what the heck flex at best with his recent ankle injury and the tough matchup against the Jaguars.

31. BUF - RB LeSean McCoy still in Buffalo's plans

Source: The Buffalo News - Mark Gaughan

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is viewed as an important piece of the offense for 2019, according to head coach Sean McDermott, and McDermott said he feels McCoy has 'bought in' with the Bills for next season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills didn't trade McCoy when they had the chance and now they are stuck with at a somewhat reasonable 6.175 million dollar price tag considering the copious amount of cap room they have. He'll be one of the last starting running backs drafted in fantasy leagues next year.
