1. DEN - QB Chad Kelly facing release?

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Chad Kelly could be released following his arrest after meeting with general manager John Elway. All options are on the table, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There were reports swirling that the Broncos were close to moving on from Case Keenum and now that is not going to be the case. Kelly had been staying out of trouble but he fell in the draft a couple of years ago due to off field concerns. The league is investigating this matter as Kelly was arrested on early Tuesday morning for first degree criminal trespassing.

2. NYG - QB Eli Manning won't be traded

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants QB Eli Manning will continue to man the Giants at quarterback with the trade deadline a week away, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning has not been playing well this season but the team won't trade him and may not bench him in 2018. Fantasy GMs should continue to view Manning as a low-end QB2 each week.

3. CIN - WR John Ross will miss more time

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (groin) is expected to be out a few more weeks after aggravating his groin injury in Week 7, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's actually news when Ross is available to play. A first-round pick last year (taken one pick before Patrick Mahomes...ouch), Ross has missed more games than he's played in. He's played eight games in about a season and a half.

4. NYG - Two picks landed for CB Eli Apple

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Giants CB Eli Apple was sent to the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, Oct. 23, in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick and a 2020 seventh-round pick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things didn't go well for Apple in the Big Apple. Things were rough for him and the Giants even though his play on the field was decent when healthy.

5. NO - CB Eli Apple acquired by Saints

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Giants CB Eli Apple was acquired by the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, Oct. 23, in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2019 and a 2020 seventh-round pick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints had been rumored to be interested in Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson but they don't get anything done there and instead move to Apple. He was playing well for the Giants but did have his fair share of problems with the team. A fresh start should do him some good and the Saints get an upgrade at corner for a great price.

6. TEN - QB Paxton Lynch, TE Ben Koyack hosted by Titans

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan

Free-agents QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos) and TE Ben Koyack (Jaguars) worked out for the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch has yet to be signed after being released from the Broncos in early September. Quite a few teams have worked him out, yet nobody has taken a chance on the 2016 first-round pick. The Titans are updating their emergency list...and for good reason as Blaine Gabbert is the primary backup to starter Marcus Mariota.

7. HOU - RB Josh Ferguson released

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Houston Texans RB Josh Ferguson was released Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That didn't last long. Ferguson, undrafted out of Illinois in 2016, has spent most of his pro career bouncing on and off the Colts roster and practice squad. The Texans just signed him to their practice squad on October 17th...and here we are just a few days later and he's without a job. We'll see if Ferguson lands another practice squad gig soon.

8. SF - WR Aaron Burbridge back with 49ers

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Free-agent WR Aaron Burbridge (49ers) was re-signed to the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burbridge was a sixth-round pick out of Michigan State for the 49ers in the 2016 NFL draft. Measuring in at 6'1" 208 pounds, Burbridge's measurables don't jump off the page and that's why he's had trouble sticking in the NFL. He has been held back by injuries as well and the 49ers just released him with an injury settlement a little over a month ago. Now he's back and trying to continue proving himself.

9. OAK - James Butler re-signs with Oakland

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Free-agent RB James Butler (Raiders) was re-signed to the Oakland Raiders' practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Butler is an interesting name to monitor in crazy deep dynasty leagues. A former star in college at Nevada, he transferred to Iowa and played behind Akrum Wadley during his senior season. Butler is incredibly elusive and has good power for a back his size (5'9" 210 pounds).

10. LAR - Austin Proehl signed by Rams

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Free-agent WR Austin Proehl (Bills) was signed to the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's cool that Proehl gets a shot with his father's former team. Ricky Proehl was part of the Rams 'Greatest Show on Turf' that won Super Bowl XXXIV in 1999. Austin was drafted by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft. He did not make their final roster and was picked up by the Titans on their practice squad for a day. Proehl will now get a chance to see if he can latch on with one of the league's best teams.

11. OAK - Two Raiders promoted

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Oakland Raiders WR Marcell Ateman and OG Denver Kirkland were promoted to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ateman was a seventh-round pick out of Oklahoma State for the Raiders in the 2018 NFL draft. He's a big-bodied (6'5" 216 pounds) target who can win at the catch point. Ateman is limited as a route runner but he can get down the field for vertical targets. With Amari Cooper (Cowboys) traded away, the Raiders needed more bodies at the WR position. We'll continue to monitor Ateman but only in super deep dynasty formats.

12. MIA - No surgery for WR Albert Wilson

Source: ProFootballTalk.com

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson (hip) won't need surgery on his injured hip, but he is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Wilson but he's still going to miss plenty of time. On Injured Reserve, Wilson would have to miss at least eight weeks of action. At the midway point of the season, that means the Dolphins would likely be without him for the remainder of 2018. They'll turn to more of Danny Amendola, Jakeem Grant and DeVante Parker (unless/until he's traded) while Wilson is out.

13. DAL - Two Cowboys have knee sprains

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Brandon George

Dallas Cowboys TE Geoff Swaim (knee) and OG Zack Martin (knee) were diagnosed with sprained medial collateral ligaments. A timetable for their recovery was not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Swaim banged up, the team turns to Blake Jarwin and Rico Gathers at the tight end position. Neither one is an exciting option (not like Swaim was either) for Fantasy GMs.

14. CIN - Three moves made by Bengals

Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals TE Jordan Franks was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Oct. 23. Additionally, TE Mason Schreck (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list and free-agent LB Brandon Bell (Bengals) was re-signed to the practice squad.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Franks was undrafted out of Central Florida this year and had a couple of catches in the preseason. C.J. Uzomah remains as their top tight end.

15. PHI - DE Derek Barnett going to IR

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles DE Derek Barnett (shoulder) will have surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On Injured Reserve, Barnett will have to miss at least eight weeks of action. Barnett had 2.5 sacks for the Eagles this year and had been playing well. The Eagles might make a move for defensive line help as they are incredibly thin up front.

16. PHI - RB Donnel Pumphrey signs with Eagles

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan

Free-agent RB Donnel Pumphrey (Eagles) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad Thursday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pumphrey is back with the Eagles but on their practice squad this time. A fourth-round pick out of San Diego State in the 2017 NFL draft, Pumphrey missed his rookie season due to a hamstring injury. He failed to make the 53-man roster this year and was released. The Lions picked him up on their practice squad in September but he only lasted a few weeks there.

17. NYJ - WR Rishard Matthews signs with Jets

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WR Rishard Matthews (Titans) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the New York Jets Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets needed some help at the WR position with Quincy Enunwa banged up and Terrelle Pryor released. Matthews didn't think he would sign with a team this year but the Jets get the deal done. He'll take some time to get used to the offense so don't expect a lot from him at this point.

18. GB - WR Geronimo Allison returns to practice

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Jim Owczarski

Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Randall Cobb back at practice as well, Allison could get bumped down the pecking order. He's likely to be the no.3 WR against the Rams on Sunday.

19. GB - WR Randall Cobb back at practice

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Jim Owczarski

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, Oct. 23.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb had time to get healthy during the team's bye last week. They'll need him at his best as the Packers face the Rams on Sunday.

20. HOU - RB Tyler Ervin moves into slot

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Tyler Ervin moved into the slot after WR Keke Coutee (hamstring) was injured in Week 7. Ervin caught one pass for 19 yards and could see more time there with Coutee likely out Thursday, Oct. 25.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ervin is a smaller running back but he's lightning quick and can make defenders miss in space. With Coutee banged up for Thursday's game against the Dolphins, Ervin could get a few targets in the passing game. It will be interesting to see how he makes the transition to the slot.

21. NYG - WR Odell Beckham makes history

Source: NFL Research

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. exceeded 5,000 receiving yards for his career in the team's Week 7 loss Monday, Oct. 22. He reached that plateau in fewer games (54) than any player since the 1970 merger, surpassing Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, who accomplished the feat in 56 games.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants passing game has been down this year, but Beckham is still getting it done at a high level. On Monday against the Falcons, Beckham had eight catches for 143 yards and one touchdown. It was his fourth 100-yard game of the season and there should be many more to come.

22. JAX - QB Cody Kessler to practice with starters

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Cody Kessler will get some practice time with the first-team offense ahead of the team's Week 8 matchup on Sunday, Oct. 28.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blake Bortles is still the starter for now. If he struggles again then Kessler would take over again like he did last week...but this time around he'd have worked with the first-team offense during the week of practice.
