Howdy Folks,

Good Tuesday to you. We've got the News and Notes you need so let's get to it.

1. NE - WR Josh Gordon acquired by Patriots

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon was acquired by the New England Patriots Monday, Sept. 17, in exchange for a fifth-round pick, according to sources. If Gordon is not active for 10 games the Patriots will receive a late-round pick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a great landing spot for Gordon...provided that he stays out of trouble, stays healthy and picks up the complex Patriots offense. Gordon has amazing physical talent but will need more than that to mesh with Tom Brady. We'll know more about his immediate role with the team in the near future. Those who took a chance on Gordon in fantasy drafts are over the moon that he landed with the high powered Patriots offense.

2. TB - Tampa Bay not ready to address QB situation

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has yet to be given any public assurances he will serve as the starting quarterback after Jameis Winston returns from his three-week suspension in Week 4, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick is absolutely on fire right now and it's going to be difficult to go back to Winston if the team is still playing well. We could see another big game out of Fitzpatrick in Week 3 against the Steelers 'defense.'

3. GB - QB Aaron Rodgers sore but OK

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee) is 'obviously sore' following a Week 2 tie with Minnesota Vikings, according to head coach Mike McCarthy, who admitted he doesn't have a read on whether his quarterback feels better this week or not.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers is going to have to deal with this soreness all year long. We should see him limited in practice this week...but so long as there are no setbacks we could see Rodgers out there again in Week 3.

4. MIN - PK Dan Bailey finds work in Minnesota

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent PK Dan Bailey signed an undisclosed contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, Sept. 17. PK Daniel Carlson was waived to make room for him on the roster.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Playing for a high powered offense with a dome home field is a sweet landing spot for Bailey.

5. PHI - WR Mike Wallace out indefinitely

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles WR Mike Wallace (leg) suffered a fractured fibula in Week 2 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles will not place Wallace on the Reserve/Injured list at this time. That's a sign that they expect him to come back from this injury in less than eight weeks time. Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) is no lock to play in Week 3, so the Eagles are especially thin at the wide receiver position.

6. PHI - QB Carson Wentz named Week 3 starter

Source: 1 No Source

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) has been medically cleared for contact and is expected to start in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. The Eagles begin this season 1-1 with Nick Foles as the starter, and they have a great chance to get another 'W' against the Colts in Week 3. Wentz might have some rust to shake off now that he's starting once again. Fantasy GMs should consider him a low-end QB1 with him back in action.

7. PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery hoping to practice this week

Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) is optimistic he will return to practice - at least on a limited basis - at some point later this week, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery is still considered to be week-to-week. There's no guarantee that he's yet ready to play. With Mike Wallace (leg) likely to miss several weeks, the Eagles are thin at the position.

8. BUF - RB LeSean McCoy avoids broken ribs

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ribs) had X-rays rule out broken ribs Monday, Sept. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch McCoy's practice status this week but there is speculation that he could miss one game due to this injury. Rib issues always come down to pain tolerance, and McCoy is a tough player, but the Bills might choose to shut him down for a Week 3 matchup against a tough Vikings defense.

9. TEN - QB Blaine Gabbert might get another start

Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Tennessee Titans QB Blaine Gabbert might get another start in Week 3 if QB Marcus Mariota (elbow) is unable to go. Head coach Mike Vrabel praised Gabbert, who started in Week 2, for how he executed the offense, earning the game ball.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota (elbow) has not made any progress yet from the elbow injury that kept him from playing in Week 2 according to Vrabel. His status remains the same and we'll get updates about Mariota during the week. The Titans face a tough Jaguars defense in Week 3.

10. JAX - RB Leonard Fournette day-to-day

Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch Fournette's progress during the week of practice. The Jaguars are at home in Week 3 against the Titans.

11. DAL - RB Tavon Austin's doesn't play much

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Brandon George

Dallas Cowboys WR Tavon Austin played just 18 of 53 snaps in a Week 2 win.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On limited snaps, Austin had two catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. With his role, there may be a game or two like this in the 2018 season. It's not enough to take a chance on Austin as a 'what the heck' flex on a weekly basis.

12. IND - TE Jack Doyle lauded by coach

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Stephen Holder

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle was praised for his run blocking in Week 2's win by head coach Frank Reich. Reich said it's the best he's ever seen Doyle block.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs don't get points for blocking. Doyle is splitting time/targets with Eric Ebron in 2018, and it was Ebron who had a touchdown grab in the Colts Week 2 victory. With this split at the tight end position, Doyle is a TE2 in Week 3 against the Eagles.

13. WAS - Washington works out three players

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos), WR Michael Floyd (Saints) and WR Kendall Wright (Vikings) worked out for the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington has only two quarterbacks on the active roster (Alex Smith, Colt McCoy) and they don't have a third quarterback on the practice squad. Since getting released by the Broncos, 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch has gotten a few teams interested. Indications are that he hasn't impressed during the interview process. We'll see if someone wants to take a chance on the physical attributes (size, arm strength) that Lynch clearly has.

14. CLE - Cleveland adds WR Rod Streater

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Free-agent WR Rod Streater (Bills) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Cleveland Browns Monday, Sept. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns needed to add talent to the wide receiver position after trading Josh Gordon to the Patriots. We're not expecting much from the speedy Streater now that he's landed with a new team.

15. NYJ - Full practice for WR Quincy Enunwa

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (thumb) fully participated in practice Monday, Sept. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Enunwa is a favorite target of rookie QB Sam Darnold. In two games, Enunwa ranks 16th in the NFL with 20 passes thrown his way. Fantasy GMs should look at him as a flex option so long as the chemistry with Darnold continues.

16. BUF - QB Josh Allen to start again

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will be the starting quarterback against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Allen struggled in his first start last week but he's the franchise quarterback of the future. He'll get plenty of time to gain valuable experience during his rookie year.

17. WAS - WR Breshad Perriman joining Washington

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WR Breshad Perriman (Ravens) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 17, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Perriman has failed to stay healthy and produce at the expected level...and that's why the Ravens decided to move on. Washington has an underwhelming WR corps but we don't think Perriman makes a huge difference for his new team.

18. NE - WR Corey Coleman released

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots WR Corey Coleman was released Monday, Sept. 17, to make room for WR Josh Gordon, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman didn't make it a week with his new team. A 2016 first-round pick of the Browns, Coleman has now been on three teams in the span of a couple of months. Coleman is now looking for a new home and should get a shot with some team...we'll see if he can hang onto the roster this time around.

19. ARI - More snaps in slot for RB David Johnson

Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson will be used more out of the slot in an effort to get him into space, according to head coach Steve Wilks.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson's usage this year has been incredibly disappointing for Fantasy GMs. He's scored the 28th most fantasy points so far this year (after two games). Johnson was a first-round pick in most every league yet he's performing like a RB3 or flex play. We'll see if things can turn around for the Cardinals, Johnson and the McCoy offense going forward.

20. ATL - RB Devonta Freeman day-to-day

Source: AtlantaFalconscom - Matt Tabeek

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (knee) is considered day-to-day as he recovers from a knee contusion, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll know more about Freeman's status as the week of practice goes on. It was originally reported that Freeman would be sidelined for multiple games. If Freeman misses more time, Tevin Coleman continues as a RB2 option for Fantasy GMs.

21. BAL - TE Hayden Hurst out at least another week

Source: 1 No Source

Baltimore Ravens TE Hayden Hurst (foot) will not begin practicing this week, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens have a long week after losing to the Bengals last Thursday night. Coming up in Week 3 is a home game against the Broncos...a team that historically struggles against tight ends. Look for a TEBC with Nick Boyle, Maxx Williams and rookie Mark Andrews while Hurst continues to miss time.

22. MIN - WR Aldrick Robinson set to sign with Minnesota

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Free-agent WR Aldrick Robinson (49ers) will reportedly sign with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, Sept. 17, according to NFL Network.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson is a veteran receiver who can work underneath routes. We don't think he'll make much of an impact for the Vikings offense.

23. DAL - Dallas taking a look at QB Landry Jones

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Free-agent QB Landry Jones (Steelers) is working out for the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, Sept. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys are just updating their emergency list. A fourth-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, Jones spent years developing on the Steelers roster...and they decided to move on from him after training camp this year. Dallas currently has Cooper Rush and rookie Mike White on the roster behind starter Dak Prescott.

24. TEN - QB Marcus Mariota's status remains unchanged

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (elbow) has not made any progress yet from the elbow injury that kept him from playing in Week 2 against the Houston Texans, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll have to get more information about Mariota's status later in the week. The Titans face the tough Jaguars defense in Week 3. They need to make sure Mariota is as close to full strength as possible in this matchup. If he can't play, Blaine Gabbert would get another start.

25. MIN - RB Dalvin Cook OK

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Updating previous reports, Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (hamstring) said he's fine, and the hamstring injury was just fatigue from the heat.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Monitor Cook during the week of practice. This sounds like a minor injury but if you have the bench space then adding Latavius Murray might be a precautionary move. The Vikings get to face the hapless Bills in Week 3....meaning Cook could have a monster game if he's healthy.
