1. NYJ - QB Teddy Bridgewater expected on field soon

Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is expected to be on the field for offseason workouts in a few weeks, according head coach Todd Bowles.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Bridgewater as he's trying to impress his new team. Bridgewater is only on a one-year deal, and the Jets selected QB Sam Darnold with the no.3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. The writing is on the wall that he's no long-term answer for the Jets. However, Bridgewater could be dealt to another team in need of a starting-caliber QB...or he could just hit the open market ready to prove himself in 2019.

2. BAL - Coach happy with Lamar Jackson

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has been impressive with his accuracy and smarts during the rookie minicamp, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is better from the pocket than many think. The Ravens are looking for a quarterback to groom behind Joe Flacco, and that's why they moved back into the first round to select Jackson no.32 overall. Jackson is a threat to run and is likely the most dynamic player in the league...and he hasn't even taken a regular season snap yet. It will be interesting to see his development, and from a fantasy lens he has QB1 potential in the future.

3. NYG - Ereck Flowers unhappy with Nate Solder addition

Source: SNY

New York Giants OT Ereck Flowers is skipping offseason workouts because he is unhappy that the Giants signed OT Nate Solder during free agency, according to SS Landon Collins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flowers needs to realize that he's struggled at left tackle during his time as a pro and a switch to right tackle (or inside to guard) could help him play longer. Solder is one of the best in the league at his position and a clear upgrade over what Flowers brought to the field as the blind-side protector for Eli Manning.

4. CLE - QB Tyrod Taylor still starter

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Tyrod Taylor is still the team's starting quarterback even though they selected QB Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Saying 'for now' would be best for Jackson and the Browns. Mayfield is an intense competitor and he can start from day one. We'll see how quickly he acclimates to the pro game, but it wouldn't be a shock to see him beat out Taylor for the starting job in Week 1.

5. NYJ - Sam Darnold uneven in first practice

Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold had some throws where he needed to 'dust the rust off' in his first practice Friday, May 4, according to head coach Todd Bowles.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's to be expected from a rookie quarterback, especially one who is far from a finished product like Darnold. While there's a chance he starts Week 1, we think Josh McCown could begin the season at the top of the depth chart with a plan to have Darnold take over eventually.

6. BAL - Baltimore signs eight draft picks

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

The Baltimore Ravens signed fourth-round draft choices CB Anthony Averett, LB Kenny Young and WR Jaleel Scott, fifth-round draft choice WR Jordan Lasley, sixth-round draft choices S DeShon Elliott, OT Greg Senat and C Bradley Bozeman and seventh-round draft choice DE Zach Sieler to four-year contracts Saturday, May 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The two WRs are the ones to watch here. Scott is a big-bodied target who can box out smaller defenders and play above the rim. He also does a good job tracking 20-plus yard passes over his shoulder. Lasley is a dangerous player with the ball in his hands. He can make defenders miss with moves but has the ability to break tackles and take it to the house.

7. CLE - Antonio Callaway injury update

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Callaway (toe) suffered a toe injury during practice Saturday, May 5. The severity of the injury is uncertain at this point.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cleveland is already hurting with first-round pick Denzel Ward battling a hip injury. Callaway is a pure speed wide receiver who doesn't lose much speed when making breaks on his routes. A toe injury could certainly hamper a guy with that skill set. The Browns will be wisely cautious moving forward.

8. MIN - More on Tyler Conklin's deal

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings TE Tyler Conklin signed a four-year deal worth $2.741 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of $281,032.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Conklin from a dynasty league perspective. The rookie from Central Michigan can make some crazy catches, but he's not just a receiving threat. Conklin has spirit as a blocker and knows how to use his hands. He suffered a 'Jones' fracture in his foot and that slowed him down in 2017. His 2016 tape is quite impressive. We'll see how he looks for the Vikings in training camp and the preseason.

9. MIN - Jalyn Holmes contract update

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings DT Jalyn Holmes signed a four-year deal worth $3.191 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of $731,396.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At 6'5" 283 pounds, Holmes has the ability to rush from the edge as a D-end or inside as a D-tackle. A fourth-round pick, Holmes has the upside to develop into a quality starter and at least could be an impact rotational player for the Vikings up front.

10. SF - San Francisco signs three picks

Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers third-round draft choice S Tarvarius Moore, seventh-round draft choice DT Jullian Taylor and seventh-round draft choice WR Richie James signed four-year contracts with the 49ers Saturday, May 5. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

James has dynamic slot potential at 5'10" 183 pounds. He plays with great foot frequency and can cut on a dime without losing much speed. James should compete for a reserve spot this year and can contribute as a return man as well.

11. CLE - Denzel Ward to miss practice

Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns CB Denzel Ward (hip) will not participate in practice Saturday, May 5, because of a hip injury. The team said the move is precautionary.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ward was the no.4 overall pick and he was somewhat of a controversial selection over Bradley Chubb. We'll see if the Ohio State product can get healthy and prove he's more than a feisty nickel corner in the pros.

12. NE - Isaiah Wynn to work at LT initially

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots OT Isaiah Wynn will initially work at left tackle and will compete for the starting job, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. He could compete for the left guard job if he is not named the starting left tackle.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's an interesting start...and one many in the scouting community did not expect. Wynn was seen as the 2nd-best guard in this class behind Quenton Nelson, even though Wynn played left tackle in college. The Patriots will try him out and see if he can protect the blind side or is best moved inside at the pro level due to his lack of length.

13. NE - RB Mike Gillislee to be on bubble

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee will have to win a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp because there would be no dead money on the salary cap if Gillislee is released.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots added Jeremy Hill this offseason in free agency and they selected Sony Michel in the 2018 NFL draft. Michel has the ability to be a lead back in the mold of LeSean McCoy. There may not be many touches to go around for Gillislee.
