A. NFL Cut-Down Day
Tracking the player moves as teams get down to 53.

1. PHI - QB Nick Foles to start Week 1?

Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles will be the Week 1 starter, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, and McManus believes QB Carson Wentz (knee) could miss a week or two.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That is the best move for the Eagles. Wentz needs to get as healthy as possible and Foles gives them time to do just that.

2. PHI - QB Carson Wentz to sit a week or two?

Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) could miss the first couple of regular season games, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no need to rush him back. Wentz is working back from the knee injury that ended his season in 2017, and he's been on schedule. Just to be safe, the Eagles could start Foles to begin the season.

3. SF - RB Jerick McKinnon officially done

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bad news for the 49ers here. McKinnon was added in free agency to be the lead back for the team this year and he didn't even make it to the regular season.

4. CHI - DE Khalil Mack officially acquired by Chicago

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, the Chicago Bears acquired LB Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick and first-, third- and fifth-round picks in 2020. Chicago will also receive a 2020 second-round choice and a conditional 2020 pick in addition to Mack.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears pay a hefty price to acquire Mack and now they have to play a hefty price to get Mack the new contract he wants. Mack is one of the best players in the league and is a huge upgrade on a Bears defense that has a strong amount of talent. Fantasy GMs are plucking the Bears defense late in drafts now...and those who have already drafted are looking to see if the Bears defense is on the waiver wire.

Our IDP Expert John Norton had this on Mack: "The trade of Mack to Chicago sends ripples throughout the fantasy community on both sides of the ball. The Bears defense is going to get a huge boost while the situation is a bit more complex for those using individual defensive players. Nearly all league management sites had Mack as a defensive end this summer. Chicago however, runs a 3-4 which means he will go back to being a stand up outside linebacker with his new team. That part is cut and dry; where is gets complicated is some league host sites may move him while others will deem it too late in the process to make positional changes with nearly everyone having drafted. Make sure you know what Mack's positional designation will be in your situation. He will be top-five as an end while the shift to linebacker will seriously lower his value for most."

5. PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery off PUP list

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) passed his physical Friday, Aug. 31, and has been activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Eagles as it keeps Jeffery available near the start of the regular season. Jeffery is expected to miss the first couple of weeks of the year.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston was placed on the Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner list Saturday, Sept. 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

8. SF - RB Matt Breida and Alfred Morris to carry RB load

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida is likely to be the team's backup tailback heading into the regular season according to Matt Maiocco. Alfred Morris could start.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Alfred Morris is likely to be the starter to begin the regular season according to Maicco. But this is far from set. Watch this closely over the next few days as we try to see how this will shake out.

9. OAK - WR Martavis Bryant released, faces suspension

Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano

The Oakland Raiders released WR Martavis Bryant on Saturday, Sept. 1. He is facing another suspension, pending appeal, which explains why the team jettisoned him.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Raiders gave up a third round pick (no.79 overall) for Bryant this year in the 2018 NFL draft. Bryant was reportedly struggling in camp with the Raiders and this new suspension essentially sealed his fate. Seth Roberts is now in line to be the no.3 wide receiver behind Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson in 2018.

10. HOU - D'Onta Foreman to miss first six weeks

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Saturday, Sept. 1. He will miss the first six weeks of the 2018 regular season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That was expected and now Foreman has more time to heal. After the six week absence, the Texans will have three weeks to decide whether or not to activate Foreman or put him on season ending Injured Reserve. When Foreman returns to the lineup, he'll cut into the playing time of Lamar Miller.

11. BAL - WR Breshad Perriman sent packing

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman was waived Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick out of UCF in the 2015 NFL draft, Perriman's pro career was set back by injury and inconsistency. He's only played 27 games in three years and had just 10 catches for the Ravens in 2017. Perriman is a bust for the Ravens but he should get a shot with another team.

12. NE - RB Mike Gillislee beaten out for spot

Source: Boston Herald - Kevin Duffy

The New England Patriots released RB Mike Gillislee, a source said Saturday, Sept. 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeremy Hill is the power back for the Patriots with the release of Gillislee. A team in need of a veteran back might give Gillislee a call.

13. NYJ - TE Clive Walford has been released

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Jets TE Clive Walford was released Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets wanted to see what they could get for Walford in a trade but that was a futile effort. Walford is athletic and can create mismatches but he's never played up to his potential.

14. NYJ - RB Thomas Rawls shown the door

Source: The Athletic - Connor Hughes

New York Jets RB Thomas Rawls was released Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets have all the running back help they need without Rawls. They'll move forward with Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell working in a RBBC.

15. DET - QB Jake Rudock does not make team

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Detroit Lions QB Jake Rudock was waived Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions will roll with Matt Cassel as the primary backup to Matthew Stafford. Rudock likely will be a practice squad option for the Lions if he is not claimed.

16. CAR - Three Panthers on Injured Reserve

Source: Panthers.com - Bill Voth

Carolina Panthers RB Elijah Hood (undisclosed), OG Jeremiah Sirles (hamstring) and CB Kevon Seymour (undisclosed) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Sept. 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hood is a big power back who could have a place in super deep dynasty leagues. We'll see what he can do for the Panthers (or someone else) once healthy.

17. PHI - Donnel Pummphrey cut

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Philadelphia Eagles RB Donnel Pumphrey was waived Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Darren Sproles healthy the Eagles didn't need Pumphrey as a change of pace back. After a lost rookie season due to injury, Pumphrey could stay with the Eagles on the practice squad if they'd like.

18. JAX - Tanner Lee does not make roster

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Tanner Lee was waived Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lee, the rookie from Nebraska, might find a spot on the Jaguars practice squad. The Jags roll out with Blake Bortles as the starter and Cody Kessler as his backup.

19. BUF - WR Corey Coleman released

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Buffalo Bills released WR Corey Coleman Saturday, Sept. 1, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills just traded for Coleman back in August. A first-round pick out of Baylor in the 2016 NFL draft, Coleman was upset with his role with the Browns and a fresh start with the Bills didn't help him. If unclaimed through waiver, the Bills will have to pay the rest of his $3.5 million salary.

20. BAL - Teams looking at Robert Griffin

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Baltimore Ravens QB Robert Griffin III is drawing trade interest, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Griffin looked good in the preseason as he tries to get his pro career back on track. With Teddy Bridgewater getting traded to the Saints, other teams in need of a veteran backup could look to Baltimore and the price tag for Griffin. While Bridgewater fetched the Jets a third round pick, Griffin would be a lower cost...perhaps a late round pick for the Ravens.

21. NYJ - TE Clive Walford being shopped

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets TE Clive Walford is being shopped around, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't know what Walford could actually get the Jets other than a late round pick. Walford has athletic ability but his game has been inconsistent...dating back to his time with the Raiders and even in college at Miami.
